Re: Brooklands 45th

I swear that this woman was sat in the car all day long. I was waiting for a chance to get a shot of the car with no-one in it but no such luck :( Hi, I think that woman was too scared to leave the security of her car because there was a suspicious looking man loitering around all day with a camera...

Re: weird words ?

Hey I'm a techie :) kitchen Hi, I guessed that! Is being a techie like being in the magic circle or something? Are you forbidden to reveal the secrets? Or do the learned techie elders pass their ancient knowledge onto the new generation of technophiles who are then sworn to secrecy and sent on a...

Re: weird words ?

Hi, I guess the techies are somehow altering the HTML or something to successfully circumvent the filter when the kltchen keyword is typed. Please tell us how it's done, it's annoying the heck out of me! Don't worry about that moron selling the kltchens finding out, he hasn't been on the forum for a...

Re: Brooklands 45th

Kris, I agree with the sentiments expressed in the posts above. It was a wonderful event and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the people I spoke to. Thanks go to everyone involved for organising such a great exhibition of so many fantastic Capris. You even managed to arrange for decent weather, despite...

Re: Speedo cable for 1.6 4 speed

Josh,
The one on the CCI website says it fits all 4 speed models.

http://capriclub.co.uk/Engine-Spares/Ca ... le-4-speed

Also try Martin at Caprigear and ask if he can supply one. That way, you will definitely receive the correct item.

Re: Rebuild or recon?

Hi Neil,
I forgot to say that the PS pipe union leak may be caused by a loose connection. It's worth making sure it's as tight as it will go before you fork out for a replacement pipe or rack.

Same goes with the nut in the centre of the oil filter hanger assembly.

Good luck,
Andrew.

Re: Rebuild or recon?

Is the oil pump one easy to do Andrew? I take it that it's a drain of oil and coolant? Neil, You shouldn't have to drain the oil, as most of it will be in the sump. You will lose some of the oil that's in the filter assembly though. You don't need to undo the coolant hoses, so no loss there. You wi...

Re: Brooklands 45th

Nick,

Fantastic photo, it really captures your car in all it's glory.

What's happened to the photo you posted earlier of the blue and white Mk1 with the plane in the background?
I was just about to, ahem, "borrow" it for my own collection. With your permission, of course!

Re: Brooklands 2014

I have seen B204YUH on Youtube leaving another event : Hi, B204YUH has probably changed hands since then, as it is owned by Phil from Weston-Super-Mare. B581OLE wasn't that the 19k miler one for sale around Bournemouth? Was tempted with that one myself at the time but fought the temptation  Yo...

Re: Rebuild or recon?

Apparently the gasket is no longer available from the Capri club so I will have to obtain it elsewhere. Neil, I bought a replacement from Tickover not too long ago, so they should have them in stock. http://www.tickover.co.uk/shop/contents/en-uk/p1657.html The club have replacement PS pipes in stoc...

Re: Brooklands 2014

Hi Peter, Stunning photos, thanks for uploading them. You've really captured the flavour of an amazing experience. I can't match the quality of your photos, so I've just added pictures of a few of my highlights. The condition of this car was to die for. Immaculate is an often overused word, but the ...

Re: Brooklands 45th

I'm not 100% sure! but if you take it a a DVLA office for an inspection, they can now give you a plate true to the original year John, I think that a car built from a bare shell can only have an age-related plate if it has been constructed using new parts. That's why so many kit cars have Q plates,...

Re: Brooklands 45th

we can't all be millionaires parading around in concourse winning original cars - as much as I'm sure we'd all like to. Hi, There were two stunning low-mileage cars on display at Brooklands. One was an orange 3.0S and the other was, appropriately, a 280 (Brooklands). Both cars on well known on the ...

Re: Brooklands 45th

Phew, the atmosphere is getting tense in here! Thanks for your comments guys. As has been said, there are plenty of visitors at every car show who will condemn, loudly, to everyone within hearing distance exhibitor's cars and give their opinion to everyone who didn't ask for it and really don't want...

Re: Brooklands 45th

I was quite lucky catching the photos on the bank, I'd just sat down to eat my burger and saw a few cars moving, so went to investigate. You were lucky to see the photo session then. I can't be as on the ball as you, as I too saw a few cars moving, but I thought they were just leaving early! I didn...

Re: Brooklands 45th

Andrew, don't worry mate. As you will have gathered my friend works in a body shop so he's trained to spot a repair and paint job.......I think Mick felt a bit guilty for having mentioned 'a bit too much'. Peter, In all honesty, it was interesting talking to Mick, and it's always helpful to have an...
