Re: Just joined

Hi there, welcome. Looks like a straight Brooky from that angle. Nice list of Fords you have there. Hi, Took the words out of my mouth! Love the 280, it looks like a real stunner. I am envious of all the other cars in your fleet as well! How do you decide which of the beauties to take for a run on ...

Re: Parcel shelf carpet

The right type of stuff to use on parcel shelves is acoustic carpet/cloth as used on amps, speaker housings etc., you should be able to get it at any good audio shop or maybe even Halfords and you can get it in different shades of grey as well as other colours. Hi, That's a good suggestion. Althoug...

You're not kidding about the prices. £75 + VAT for a water pump? I'd stick with a replacement known brand from a trusted supplier (Caprigear or CCI, to name but two).

Re: Homemade Gear Box Sound Deadening & Fitting Grill Badge

Mike,
Thinking about it, you may be able to source some suitable density foam from your local upholsterers. They will probably give it away for nothing, as you only need a small offcut. Also, being foam from chairs etc. it will be fire retardant. As ever, no harm in asking.

Also, any ideas where to get slim/flat adhesive backing for mounting grill badge? Mike, I used trim tape similar to this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-Super-Strong-Permanent-Double-Sided-Self-Adhesive-Foam-Car-Trim-Body-Tape-/250995195679?pt=UK_Crafts_Cardmaking_Scrapbooking_Glue_Tape_EH&var...

Am I right in thinking only the later cars had this fitted, as mine doesn't have dim/dip?

Typically, they never used to come with anything. Except the cut carpet, which the shelf did come supplied with! Re: Parcel shelf carpet

Hi Neil,
I believe that the club shelf used to be supplied with the carpet, obviously that must have changed now. Some dark grey cord carpet should be a good enough match for the carpet that was supplied. Try to get a colour match with the boot carpet and you won't go far wrong.

Re: outriggers

Hi again,
I take it you mean the outrigger strengtheners under the floor, right?
You can source them from the places that I mentioned above, but if they are crushed, the car shouldn't fail the MOT on them anyway.

Hi, That's a relief to know that it's not a "Major operation requiring engine removal" as stated in the Haynes manual. Typical though how what was a quick clutch change turns into oil leak fixing partial propshaft recon. Makes me wish I just left it..... Isn't hindsight a wonderful thing? ...
