Re: Brooklands 2014

Cheers for the Pre-Convoy Photo, I don’t mind admitting I was as Nervous as Hell leading this, but wish I’d got a photo through the rear window thinking back… Probably won’t happen again??? John, Perhaps for the 50th at Brooklands? I thought you did a good job leading the convoy. It's not as easy a...

Re: CAPRIS Bristol/Devon/Surrounding areas

Sadly i think ill have to say this weekend isn't going to happen due to lack of commitment from people, its not worth my fuel to drive all the way up and back, sorry Andrew hopefully another time next year :D Hi Toby, It's a shame there is a lack of interest, but let's get something organised for S...

Re: can anyone identify these badges and lights

Hi, My first thought was also something Japanese from the '70s, but I couldn't place them. The Toyota Celica GT and ST (1st generation) are similar, but it's not them. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d200/me_and_the_major/Rubbish/image_880x587_zps7842f2e8.jpg I'm puzzled, but still looking! Hi John,
That's a shame, maybe some other time.
If anyone else fancies going to this meet, the next one is on Sunday the 12th.

Re: Capri apparently to be given away for free?!

The guy who owns the business could pull his aunties or uncles name out the hat, theres a big publicity thing where said aunti or uncle supposedly receives the car but they give it back of course afterwards ;) Hi, The scam would be a bit obvious when the car is back on the forecourt for sale the fo...

Re: Wheel Courier

Hi,
I go on the parcel2go website. Yodel are usually the cheapest, I have found that their service is excellent.
No doubt for every positive recommendation you receive there will be ten online reviewers with bad experiences.
Make sure your parcel is adequately insured just in case.

Re: new car tax from 01/10/2014 ?

Hi,
Like most people, I understand that paying my way is a necessity in a civilised society. However, it's just the thought of paying for the same thing twice that is a bitter pill to swallow.
even if it is just £20 every couple of years.

I think I might have mentioned it had started making strange noises on corners when it was up to temp. Looks like my next job’s been decided for me then, a new / Recon LSD for me… John, Try changing the oil first, making sure you've got the correct LSD stuff in. It's worth a try and may save you a ...

Re: new car tax

Hi, As you say, if you sell a car mid month and apply for a refund, you won't get a refund on the remainder of the month. Don't forget that if you then buy another car you will have to tax that from the beginning of the month as well, so you will end up paying for that month twice. At the top rate, ...

Do you mean that you agree they may be cooler than the DMC-12...or that I need to seek medical advice  I think I meant that I agree about the Z1 doors being cooler than the DeLorean! Although in my opinion the coolest Door was Jim Morrison :) If anyone is interested, there are only 116 Z1s sti...

Re: Coolest Doors ?

Hi Nick,
I agree. I've only ever seen one Z1 being driven on the road, and it caused quite a stir when the driver parked and got out.
Useful for getting out of the car after parking in one of those tiny car park spaces where there is not enough space to open a traditional door.

Re: Yet another tyre thread, I'm sorry

How far out have the 60 profiles put your speedo? Hard to say - maybe made it overread by about 10% - don't think it was ever that accurate to start with, Hi, From what I understand, around 10% inaccuracy is about the norm for a Capri. If you put on 60 profile tyres, you can change the speedo drive...

Re: My mum's old 1994 white renault 5 prima campus

For some reason I really wanted one of these as a kid though! No clue why... I'm not sure that the Campus is the object of my desire, but I wouldn't mind a 5 turbo 2 (that's the mid-engined one). A friend had the regular 5 turbo and that was a serious bit of kit back in the day. There's hardly any ...

Hi Nick, Thanks for the tip-off about this cordless vacuum. Years ago, like you, I tried the ones powered by the cigarette lighter, and I was less than impressed. I haven't given them another try since, but perhaps now is the time for me give them a second chance. Can't complain for the money, looks...
