Re: Efi pinto fuel Again!! Terrible consumption
Check for sticking injectors... they stick open, so would dribble. Remove the plugs, roll up some kitchen roll and push it in to each plug hole. Prime the fuel system but don't turn the engine over. Withdraw each bit of kitchen roll and any with fuel on it will betray a leaking and therefore stickin...

Absolutely correct.
Whilst I continue to bang on about efi, well set up carbs will cause no damage to en engine.

Re: Strange uneconomical capri
Hi Cabaret, efi is simpler than people think. 1, I think this sounds like a fuel leak. Check the engine bay and under the car with the fuel pump primed. 2, air filter- is it clogged? 3, air flow meter- is the flap stuck? Disconnect the air filter, set the engine running. Lean into the engine bay, lo...

Tip- I used my son's unwanted/ unloved skateboard as a 'box carrier. It moved more fluidly than a trolley jack. If we are talking pinto... Fuel line off, plugged. Coolant drained, coolant lines disconnected. Rad out. Electrics unclipped. Hire engine crane (£18 delivered for the weekend here! Althoug...

Re: Cam
A fuel cat fitted may not mean that the engine does not have hardened valve seats.
I bought an injected Granada to transplant the efi pinto into a Capri. That Granada had a Fuelcat fitted- now there was a rip off!!!

Flying wires- Essentially: Flying wires are wires which are not tied down at both ends. In this instance, the octane/ timing adjustment wires I mentioned in an earlier thread. Split/ shorted- they have rubbed together and make a connection. So you could set that car at say, 8btdc, then the wires tou...

Re: pinto EFI spluttered and died now has no spark
the base plate is bolted to the inner wing and the module has its own eart which is still good. Five minute job - whip the module screws out, abrade the alloy backplate & the front of the screw holes, clean up screws & get some bare metal on the inner wing round the screw holes so the alloy...

Re: pinto EFI spluttered and died now has no spark
Is the ignition module adequately earthed? If... all the earths are fine, then I would say we need to consider the following: What is the crack with that wire I said to add into the ignition (key turn) circuit? If that became loose then disconnected, the engine would stutter, stop and fail to fire. ...

Not wishing to be contentious, but mapped ignition is a bit wasted on a pinto... you dont like pinto's at all do you :) You got me!!! In all honesty, there is a lot to herald on a pinto- easy enough maintenance easy for a starter engine to tinker on lots of tuning parts/ advice available tough as o...
