Re: Clanking noise

Spot on Paul, just got my Capri back from the garage. He said all flywheel bolts were coming undone. No lock tabs on these engines but should have had thread lock on bolts. So much for the restoration company in the M40 area that carried out the complete restoration of my car some 7 years but only 6...

Re: Clanking noise

Think you could be right there. Took it to a recommended garage today and he dismissed any sort of engine fault. Thought it was in the gearbox area. Really loud noise now, getting worse very quickly, and the car runs beautifully!!!!!😖😖😖😖 Any way he has taken it in and hopes to start on it tomorrow o...

Re: Clanking noise

Just a quick update. Timing cover off, great expectation and - nothing wrong in there, all good and tight. Now suspect that the fly wheel maybe the culprit. Not sure but definitely getting worse. Now booked in to a garage next week to let them have a listen when up on ramp.

Re: Clanking noise

Valve area seems fine but further investigation is leading me towards the front of the engine. Could either of the timing wheels work loose and rattle around on the shafts do you think? Not come off therefore allowing the engine to run perfectly. Any thoughts before I start removing the covers. Thanks

Re: Spice up your life lads

Good morning all This topic reminded me of a Capri I nearly purchased a few years back. Around September 2017 I was looking for a 2.8 and saw an ad for one near me in Suffolk. Went to look at it and the dealer told me it had been used in an Old Spice competition/ad some time ago. A300 TAR certainly ...

Rear wiper

Just want to say a big thankyou to donator stevemarl for his explanation of the tailgate wiper wiring system from last year. I was not getting any where with the manuals I have with regards to diagram s. Your simple explanation made it child’s play saved me a new wiper motor. Many thanks.

Sportex Exhaust 2.8i

Thought I would give my experience with the above exhausts. Purchased the full Sportex system manifold to tailpipe about a year ago from a company on Ebay.. Arrived in a plastic bag with lots of scratches apart from the protected 3 inch (big mistake, more later) chrome tail pipes. I have a carpeted g...

Re: Prolblem with my Capri 2.0 pinto

When it’s in the conked out mode can you do a couple of tests on it, like testing for sparks at the plugs/ from the coil. Maybe a compression test, trying to eliminate an area of the fault.

Re: Fantom Works New Series

Boy do they spend some money on their cars. Way above what they are worth.I know that some seem to have sentimental value in one way or another but the only people making money on these cars is the garage.

Re: Rev counter needle removal. Hi all

Thanks Martin, once you confirmed the needle just pulled off, a little more effort and a twist- off it came. Think I was being a bit too girly with it. Thanks again.

Rev counter needle removal. Hi all

Hi all, can anyone advise on how to remove the needle from my rev counter shaft. I have looked back at the threads regarding this and they seem to suggest that you ease it off carefully. I have tried this and a bit more, nothing, seems firmly in place. Don’t want to break it so have stopped. Mine is...

Re: Brake bleeding

Right, to anyone who was following this thread last year. Got the princess callipers out again trying to fathom why they would not bleed out. On real close inspection it looked as though one of the bleed nipples would not screw in fully, as the caliper casting obstructed the bleed nipple. Anyway, ou...
