Andrew.
Yup – I was surprised to see the 2.8 Laser. The pic of the interior of the prototype pretty cool too.

Steve's new book

Since you lot are into Lasers and not the cursed V6 Capri... :) As you may have seen I spent my Covid summer writing another book – Secret Fords . I'll be honest I'd planned to leave the Capri out of it as I'd just written two books and had nothing left to write. But no, I was wrong. Ford gave me ac...

Re: How do we make an all electric capri

Hmm, well as I read it the ban on ICE engines starts at the date and so it doesn't mean gas-powered cars "will be illegal". There would be a ten-year run-down as the vehicle parc depletes and some vestigial petrol pump network would remain to fuel visiting plus existing vehicles and diesel...

Re: Prices

What's the right price for a near-mint (1) Injection Special (2) 280 The same site has a 280 with 57k miles for £35,000 & one with 20k advertised for £45,000 (now sold). These all look to be in amazing condition, but as always you have to see them & justify the price to yourself. Happy hunt...

Prices

So let's assume I wanted to buy a near-mint Capri Injection what would I pay? I know a lot of the time people seem to talk down prices in the Ford scene, which is the opposite of the Porsche community where people like to protect their investment and this clouds a lot of comment. I see dealers on Pi...

Re: Capri-stang

Reminds me of the days when you could buy a "System Porsche" Seat with giant decals down the side, nobody was fooled. The same applies to Tickfords when people slather them in Aston badges, not realizing that people snigger away behind their backs. There's a guy I see occasionally that par...

Re: Any thoughts on the new Ford Capri idea

I spoke to Amko Leenarts, the designer quoted, and he design entire team back in the summer, there's no doubt that he does love the Capri as you'll see here. https://www.stevesaxty.com/videos We spent plenty of time discussing Capri as you'll see. Amko is no fool and the idea of a Capri, to quote, &...

Re: Tickford Capri Advert

Yup and a fully-optioned one like the pearl white show car or Paul Windram's green car would be 90k today - way off the 35k a Capri Injection would be in today's money. The trouble was their residual value was terrible. I bought two used Tickford's off the factory. I paid around 5k for them when the...

See inside Ford Design

If you’ve followed my trip to Germany the other week on Facebook you’ll have seen inside the secret archives. Then I looked around their backlot of show cars and prototypes which 360,000 people saw. The highlight, for me was to present to Ford’s entire design team, an honour I never expected when I ...

Re: The last Brooklands

Having worked with Kris and Calvin on the 50th I can honestly say they did a fab job, as others agree, despite the Brooklands staff. I can compare the Brooklands team to that of Gaydon and the former were a shambles. They seemed to want to screw every penny out of SCC, they wouldn't let me in early ...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/staticarchive/245341e17b53973e39b5a03b02fca43a7fe610eb.jpg This is shaping up to be the biggie. Around 300 Capris out there on the Ford test track for the first, and last time. Nearly 500 other classic Fords and talks from SVE and Motorsport legends too. I'll be doing my bit to...

If it's any consolation I don't have one. They may have all been nabbed by now and I'll have to sign the standard one with Rod lonely down the pub.

RIP Harry Calton

A little bit of sad news to report. Harry Calton, the former Ford of Britain press officer, passed away today. You may not know the name but he was behind the launches of the Capri and many of the now-classic Ford, RS and XR cars during the 70s & 80s. Ford’s PR was the best in the business thank...

There is a Laser on the rear cover of Capri 50. I asked here who wanted to chip in and commission a full profile Laser illustration and the response was.... Crickets.... Still, I think they look lovely as print and teh Laser mentioend in the timeline there.
