Re: Snapped Tap Problem

you can get a removal tool with hardened fingers that slide down the flutes of the snapped tap. i have had some success with them before but they dont always work https://www.zoro.co.uk/shop/hand-tools/tap-extractors/5-16inch-8mm-4-flute-tap-extractor/p/ZT1001982X?utm_source=cj&utm_medium=affili...

Re: Capri 260 front brakes complete

will these brakes fit under 13" wheels?
does it change the wheel position/offset by much?
and do the struts require any modifications (drilling mountings etc) to fit?
i'm very interested, cheers Andy

Re: Brake Master

have you got it piped correctly? it looks to me like the two outlets at the front are piped to one front brake and the rear line into the other? then the rear outlet, the pipe wiggles its way across the engine bay to the other front brake? i thought both front brakes are fed off the front of the mas...

Re: Mk2 Front Wiper Arms

I had the same trouble with mine. i was told that they are original mk2 wiper arms. one day i was scrapping a vw polo(6n2) and noticed they had similar caps. i had to cut the bottoms down a bit because they were too tall but now fit perfect check eBay item number:164314751170 it gives the measuremen...

Re: Heater repairs Mk2 GL

Glad this was useful to you Danny re the resistor. i managed to measure the resistance of the original at 2.2 ohms, so that is what i used for the replacement. as Steve says a 4.7 ohm resistor would just make the motor run slower the original mounting board seems to be made of crumblyium and disinte...

Re: Heater repairs Mk2 GL

One final point........... I'm sure the four retaining screws were actually 11mm? May sound trivial, but not when you're upsidedown in the footwell wondering why the socket won't fit :D apologies, ive just checked and you are right. they are 11mm nuts. tried to edit my post but it wont let me....

Heater repairs Mk2 GL

This was a job id been putting off all summer but as it turned out, it was easy enough... My Capri developed a burning smell. Smelt a bit like clutch burning but it turned out to be only when the heater was on. I managed to pull the wires off the heater resistor so i could ignore it for the rest of ...

I've just bought my tickets. Probably too late to join you in the main area, but if you do have any spaces left that would be great? travelling down from Bristol, completely opposite route from you, so i'll see you in the queues at about 7:30 really looking forwards to meeting more Capri owners chee...

Re: Weston Super Mare 2019 - The Capris

Thanks for your comments Andrew,
The cement bags are really just filled with bubble wrap, for effect only (shush, don’t tell anyone). It’s amazing how many “experts” have told me I need these. And I think I’ve caused a bit of a stir on Facebook too!

Re: Weston Super Mare 2019 - The Capris

It was great to be a part of such a big line up of fantastic Capri's. The convoy from McDonalds was great, although i struggled to keep up. I may have "the best handling Capri" but with the 1600, it's got to be the slowest it was also great to be met by Adam who recognized Grandads Capri f...

Re: 1.6 laser brake upgrade

i bought that exact kit from Rally Design. my Capri has been off the road for over 15 years and the calipers were seized. This kit was not much more than the calipers alone and i thought a sensible upgrade. The calipers when they arrived were the correct calipers for the disks, wider halfs and no sp...

Re: Gold ‘84 2.0S running gear swap...

i bought this complete brake kit from Rally Design.. http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=21725 by the time you buy new seal kits for your original calipers, the new disks and the spacer kit, this package works out much cheaper. mine arrived with wider M16 calipers for the vente...
