Re: V8 but which one?
just to further convince you on small block ford, i also have a 347 stoker with afr heads and all the bits. spent yesterday on the dyno and its putting out 340hp at the rear wheels (equates to 440 at the engine). Previously with 30hp less it ran 11.4 over the 1/4 mile. You wont regret it!!! You los...
Re: Fuel Hose
Almost forgot to post.... Noticed today when I ran my engine, it's pissing out fuel again. I think it's the fuel hoses degrading, is it something to do with the ethanol on petrol? How can I ensure I get hose that's good enough? Yes, it's the ethanol, replace old hose with silicone hose, job done...

Re: 2.8 Cologne .. can it be quick?
Does anyone here know how to build a competition 2.8 or know of a posting of someone who did? Looking at the costs of a 5.0 conversion (and 400 hp): donor engine - $500 heads - $250 internals - $1500 (stroker kit) headers - $100 cam - $200 intake - $200 radiator - $350 t-5 transmission, clutch, etc...

Re: Suitable gearbox for Ford 302 V8?
Yes, there are two types of T5's. One that was used on the 4cyl Lima engines, and one that was used with the V8's (like in the 80's Mustang GT). Im pretty sure that the T5 used with the Cosworths was the same as in the 4cyl Turbo Mustangs of the 1980's. It should have the shorter (same as 4cyl Type...

Re: Mk1 Capri Wheel/Tyre sizes
It depends on the back spacing of the wheel, a 7X15 wheel will need 4 1/4" (108mm)
back spacing. The you could run a 205/50R15 tire(tyre).

Re: 73 Capri rear quarter window (light)
Early model year '73s had glue on latches, same as the '72s. Late model year '73s had bolt on latches. If you pry the chrome cap off the the latch on the outside of the glass, you'll find a bolt... As for the leading edge of the window, what we do here in the US is fill the channel in the B pillar w...

I am hoping to bring an end to this argument, I have emailed Retro Ford magazine and they are going to run a Tech Feature on this subject to prove it right or wrong! So someone will have to get a plate... put some words on it...and eat those words.... I hope it's not me lol  I have doubts abou...

Re: Worrying what some people will put on the web as FACT
Christ, I'm going to have to write a dissertation on exhaust header(extractor) design with math included to convince one individual that back pressure is bad. Rich: have ever heard the phrase that a "mind is like a parachute"... I'll have the dissertation done in a couple of days, in the m...

Dave; I've been arguing the back pressure myth for 35 years. Every single time I'd ask why do you need back pressure? I never got the same answer... Here is a good question for the entire group to try and answer, it's a tough one, but not too tough if you think about it a bit... Thinking caps on... ...

Rich, you editing your posts isn't going to change the physics involved. Perhaps if you
state why an engine needs back pressure in the exhaust system, we can blow the myth
to pieces. That way, everyone will understand why it's a myth...

Re: Worrying what some people will put on the web as FACT
If you put your finger over the end of a hose pipe, does the water go back into the tap? No. Does the water pressure increase and therefore exit the end of the hose faster? Yes. Try filling a bucket with both methods. You may learn something during the process... Instead of proclaiming something yo...

Re: ford Capri mk 1,5 GT 1.6
If you can find a 7" wide 15" diameter rim, you'll need 6mm positive offset, or a 4 1/4" backspace... But with that size wheel, you won't need the flares, you'll really need an 8 or 9" wide wheel and tire... My Mk 1 has 7 X 15 with 6mm of negative offset... http://i490.photobucke...
