Re: gone but not forgotten
Thanks guys. Thats a very good hint for the fuel sender terminals. I'l take some wire wool to these before handing it over The other old car is an MGBGT I bought several few years ago as a damaged repairable. It started as a joint project with a mate but it stalled part way through when he suffered ...

gone but not forgotten
Unexpectedly Ive just sold my Capri. I mentioned to a mate the other week that I might consider selling my Capri at some point, he mentioned it to someone he knew who surprised me by asking how much i'd take for it. My 1983 2.8i has now gone to someone who is building up a small collection of classi...

Re: Tailgate Struts
Have you tried Capri Jake on the other forum. I got a set from him a couple of years ago, just had to swap over the electrical connectors and ends from the old ones and it was done. The tailgate opens half an inch or so higher than with the original gas struts which is no bad thing.

Re: Big hesitation.
If yours still has the standard single barrel VV type carb as fitted to most non S 1.6 Capris then this isnt worth fixing. An opportunity to swap to a good used 32/36 Weber & manifold. Better reliability and bhp for very little money.

Changing to a 32/36 should be very good for you. Theres a reason its such a widely used carb.

It might take even longer than that. He made 2x posts in 2012, never to be heard from again.
Re: Wiring
Start by removing the fuses from the main fusebox on the bulkhead. Clean them and the contacts they fit into with wire wool and ensure there is plenty of tension on the contacts when you put them back. Its a common problem

Re: Why? Just why?
I wouldnt want to criticise his choice but 3.0 Ghias are available at similar money so there doesnt seem a financial reason to dress up a 2.8i Special, passing the car off as something it isnt. Perhaps another way of going about it could have been to create a 2.8i Ghia . As far as I know Ford never ...

Re: Why? Just why?
If he wanted to make a mock 3.0 Ghia i wonder why he didnt start with a 4 cylinder car or at any rate something other than a pristine 2.8i Special.
Did he say if he is changing the interior too ?

Re: Mk3 Indicator stork fault made my relay go nuts.
Its important to get the right replacement stalk. There are 2 versions according to age and just to confuse us the wiring connectors are the same so they appear interchangeable plus there is very little to distinguish the 2 types- however they are wired completely differently internally and are defi...

Re: Wanted: Standard MK3 2.8 And/Or 3.0 Exhaust System
I have a complete standard good second hand system for a 2.8 including a pair of standard exhaust manifolds and U clamps. I bought this a few years ago with the intention of swapping it over for the Sportex system that the PO fitted which at the time was driving me mad, knocking against just about e...

Probably some leftie liberal without a brain. The same types that just want to cancel anyone with an opinion that doesn't match thier own agenda. After doing a thorough job of rebuilding the Capri seats for your Mustang has it made you any more keen on buying a whole Capri for your next project ?

Re: Moving drivers seat backwards
Im thinking the Recaro seats just dont go quite as far back as other Capri seats. I remember when i moved from a 1.6GL to a 2.8i Special many years ago jobs such as removing the lower dash panel to access the relays seemed a bit trickier as the seat wouldnt shift as far out of the way. Mind you that...
