Re: New Ford on my driveway

The RS, with basically the same 5 pot engine (albeit lower compression and a marginally different cam profile) puts out way more, so the ST can certainly be tweaked. A few years ago earlier, if anyone had suggested to me that Ford's fastest medium sized car would one day have a Volvo engine with an ...

Re: Very nice twist on the pepper pots .

+1 for 15" Pepper pots. I went from 15" brookalike wheels to 13" Pepper pots to regain a bit of originality but would have gone for 15" Pepper pots if they had been available.

Re: Horrible Engine knocking

Taking a block out to 2.1 can be expensive as it cant usually be overbored that much in a single pass and there is almost no benefit to be gained for all that extra cost. I looked into it seriously when I had a Pinto and opted to take mine out to the maximum bore size that could be achieved with a s...

Re: Ford Capri in the Daily Mail Motor Review

+1 for the LS Carla interior. Always thought they should have carried it on into the late S spec cars and into the Laser. Did the Laser ever have an option on interior trim, Recarros etc or was there no choice ?

Re: Mercury Capri

Anyone know if this version of the Mercury Capri is actually Mazda based , maybe similar to what was marketed here as the Ford Probe etc or is it based on the Ford built Fox bodied Mustang ?

I misunderstood this thread at first and thought someone was actually selling "Old Car Dealer On Board" stickers for retired motor traders.

Re: Heater motor position, is this fast or slow ?

Thanks Sunny, knowing where to look made all the difference. I was able to find the connections to the resistor on the front of the heater straight away and found a loose lucar connector that just needed pushing back into place. Now working nicely on 2 speeds again. Now knowing where it is I ...

Heater motor position, is this fast or slow ?

Please could anyone quickly remind me which are the fast and slow switch positions for the heater fan ? Mine used to work on both speeds but it now only works when the switch is in the ' - ' position (symbol that looks like a straight fan blade). My memory is that the ' - ' setting means low speed a...

Re: Blue plastic lenses in dashboard pod removal

The Dremel made light work of the collars on the larger LEDs (see what i did there) they now fit fine and are working. Unlike the last set of smaller LEDs which were green these are white light LEDs so it will be interesting to see the difference when I reassemble the dash and get a chance to drive ...

Is there a list of parts anywhere for viably replicating the TT conversion or would it need several parts fabricated from scratch these days to do any turbo installation on a Cologne ?

Re: Blue plastic lenses in dashboard pod removal

When I went to change my dash bulbs for LEDs last year the first size i tried fitted in the bulb bases but seemed too physically wide to actually go into the dash. I then went for some smaller ones which proved ok for the MOT but aren't really bright enough. Ive since looked at the first set i bough...

Re: My Project Parts For Sale

Good luck with selling your parts. Its always a pity when someone feels they need to throw in the towel though. Starting with a bare shell and then setting out to acquire all the many parts to complete is an ambitious feat.

Re: Rare Capri Model Spotted on Streetview.

Apparently each set of front wheels had its own steering wheel too. It did make it a bit difficult to drive but back in the day people were tougher and of course it encouraged people to car share so qualified for a reduction on road tax.

Re: Mk5 escort fuses

can you upload a photo of the fuse type ? If its a Ford and doesn't have the cartridge type of fuses our Capris have then my guess is these will be blade fuses. They have 2 legs that look like like lucar spade connectors but with a flat lump of plastic between them at the top. Easy and cheap to buy ...
