Re: New Capri owner! - Need some help!!

Thats definitely an AM only radio. Ah, the wonders of Medium Wave and then the whole Long wave band apparently devoted to Radio 4 and French stations only, the uncertainties of the signal disappearing under every bridge Im not sure whether this would have been original equipment in your car in the y...

Re: Is my exhaust Legal? MOTable?

The way the rules about exhausts are interpreted does seem very subjective For example the majority of kit cars have loud and often entirely unbaffled exhausts, usually exiting at the side of the car and sometimes with a long sidewinder type exhaust box running down the outside of the car. Each kit ...

Re: anyone know this car A382 KWW?

I can understand how you feel. Its so annoying when people just conveniently forget the arrangements they have committed to. After something similar happened to me a few years ago I now make sure any agreement is done in writing even if it's just an email. Good fences make good neighbours. Do you th...

+1 for Vredestein Sprint Classic. Great roadholding though admittedly more costly than the Nankangs which certainly aren't a bad tyre

Re: Is my exhaust Legal? MOTable?

It would be interesting to know what difference to performance and economy the absence of back pressure would make.

round handles - no problem, a mole wrench works fine though may leave some scratches on the screwdriver handle.

Re: headlights

I wouldnt go for HDMI instead of your Capri headlamps. Even very bright TV screens with high definition content wouldnt be as bright as proper headlamps and it could be a bugger to find nice round ones that would fit in the surrounds. ;)

Re: Damp proofing fuse box & terminals

The fault turned out to be a rivet in the fusebox - really not an easy thing to trace. I have cleaned up the rivets and the copper of the fuse contacts that they pass through and very carefully applied some solder to each. Im not expecting any more trouble from that now but what an odd thing it was ...

Re: Moving drivers seat backwards

Its likely there could be something obstructing the full travel of the runner.

Have you checked its length of travel against another Capri - or against the passenger seat ?

Noooo. Dont change the pepperpots - or if you do put some other wheels on there keep them by you as a full set. It will be worth more in the future with it's original wheels.

Re: rear seats

For removal opf the rear seat found its easier to undo the nut Peter describes that holds the padded section of the rear seat to the metal and then with that out of the way there is a bit more access to remove the metal parts, brackets and hinges

Re: 2.0 Pinto Engine

Though the inlet ports on the injected head look a different shape you can still use the standard inlet manifold and carb without any modification. Its a really nice cylinder head if you can find one.

Re: Escort zetec

As far as I understand it the CVH and Zetecs blocks are so similar they can be swapped directly. I presume though you will need to take the induction system, ignition, ecu etc from the donor Zetec car so may need to do some splicing of the engine wiring loom, may need to get custom hoses made up and...

Re: 2.0 Pinto Engine

The best Pinto engine you can find as standard was the one fitted to the 2.0 litre injected Sierra (but make sure its a pinto, not the later DOHC thing). Most of them used 205 blocks which are slightly thicker walled - and if you get the head with it this has better valves and more efficient flow ra...

I like the oil breather catch tanks for each bank of cylinders, practical and visually good too.
