Re: Leaf spring snapped

If you can get single leaf springs for a similar price to multis I would say go for them. They became the standard fit on later capris and are fully compatible, just better. Changing to single leaf springs seems to be popular everywhere except in the US -there were no standard spec Capris sold there...

Re: 2.8i as a family car/daily driver?

Ive got an lsd in mine and cant see what the fuss is about. As mine is an early 5 speed 2.8i not a Special Im actually wondering if it would be worth swapping it over for a standard diff instead to be consistent with the way it left the factory.

Jobs in this cold weather

What with snow, rain, low temperatures and the absence of a nice warm and dry garage Ive only lifted the cover off the car twice this year so far to do a couple of tiny bits of work: Replacing the clock in the console - the old one was noisy and lost hours rather than minutes each day. Cleaning and ...

Re: 2.8i as a family car/daily driver?

Ive never worried about the heads though just to play safe i do throw in a capful of additive every few fills of the tank. The effect of the worst case scenario from this risk would only equate to having to do exactly the same work involved in a conversion- replacing the exhaust valve seat inserts. ...

Re: Searching for car history

One of the things their history will tell you is if there has been a colour change. That itself is a perfectly appropriate reason to request the history as it could conceivably affect the car's value.

Re: Searching for car history

I got mine but I did go to town on reasons rather than just 'interest'. I stressed this was a classic car and the owner history would have a measurable impact on it's value - I then gave the following examples of why this could be important: If some of the previous owners were from the same family/ ...

Welcome to the forum and be assured that no one here would think of criticising any of the questions you have asked - both because this is a very friendly place to be and also because so many of us have been in a very similar position and made the right choice. :welcome: The Capri is an iconic shape...

Re: Project "Scorpio"

Is it the crankshaft bearings that are tight ? They do take a bit of force but as has been said a longer bar or wrench will help. I tackled them with a length of iron gas pipe on a T bar when i last rebuilt a Pinto engine. Get someone to hold the engine steady or if no one is available jut put the e...

Re: ANY serving coppers/PCSOs

I do hope you can reapply. My nephew has just joined the local force and is loving it and I know several others who have made good careers from it.

This time it's wise to keep it off all social media if there is a risk your ex is still looking to cause problems.

Re: Goblin Works Garage

It doesnt need a crystal ball to see the future of this one: In a couple of years someone will restore it with standard Capri panels, a decent 2nd hand interior and some wheels that fit. It will then be worth marginally more than a standard 2.8i Special because of it's interesting engine conversion ...

The V4 engines being made look tiny and very simple compared to a straight 4.

Re: Custom front valance

The RGA spoiler sounds a good idea. Would this pretty much cover up the existing valance so it ceases to be visible ?

Wasnt it the RGA spoiler that also improves aerodynamic stability ?

Re: 2.8 a reg in Brookland colours

My experience with wheel sizes bears that out too.
Though the 15" after market wheels I used to have looked great and I chiefly went back to 13" pepperpots to restore a bit of originality it has to be said the 205/60x13s have improved the ride. Just as nimble but not as choppy.

Re: 2.8 a reg in Brookland colours

Some say the nicest 280s are actually the very rare white ones. Always confuses poor Joe Public who think they must be looking at a 2.8i Special with black seats and the wrong stickers. - the fact is they are completely right of course.

Re: 2.8 a reg in Brookland colours

It sounds like personal choice on a car that needed some work and the PO wasn't fond of the original colour.

Either that or he was waiting for the right V5 to come up on Ebay
