Re: Complete electrical failure except one thing?!!

No it cant be the coil because all that runs is the ignition circuit and you have already pointed out that its affecting everything except the separate electric fuel pump. You have a break in one of the main wires in the loom. Does your fuel pump have its own leads to both the + and - side of the ba...

Re: 2.8i S 1987 Exhaust system

Ive got a complete 2nd hand system to suit standard manifolds if interested. The idea was to revert to this from the louder Sportex system the car came with but Ive got used to that now and am looking to sell the standard system sometime.

Re: Looking for body kits for MKIII

You want to fit your rear spoiler under the back bumper ? Well I suppose it's more discrete than mounting one on the roof Mad Max style :goodluck:

I cant see how that would work so I'll be leaving mine on the tailgate.

If Martin sells you a tank you can be sure it will be excellent.

Re: Leaking petrol when full tank

+1 seal around the fuel sender is the most likely culprit. The tanks for the 2.8i effectively had a swirl pot built into them to prevent momentary fuel starvation whilst cornering. (Cars with carburetors dont need this). CCI are selling new 2.8i tanks and its worth checking the usual vendors for ser...

Re: Laser 1600

Oven cleaner is superb stuff for working on cars with. Its just about the only stuff that will dissolve the 'coal ' like deposits that collect around injectors on diesel engines when the injector seals have started failing. Great at cleaning inlet manifolds, EGR valves too.

Re: Automatic loom

Easiest is probably to connect the 2 wires which went to the inhibitor switch together so that the relay stays open when it is powered up. Equally you could always extend that pair of wires to a hidden switch to reuse the feature as a simple anti theft device

Re: Dash filler

I used a flexible filler that was sold for dah and plastic bumper repairs. it worked really well. As a trial I sprayed the dash with a couple of coats of dark grey Halfords flexible trim paint which brought it up well. Because I had applied quite a bit of filler though around the damaged speaker hol...

A 205 block is only really worth paying more for if you are planning on seriously overboring. People used to take the standard blocks up to 2.1 quite safely - i did one many years ago before any 205 blocks existed. Frankly the cost of overboring and difficulty in finding suitable pistons these days ...

Re: diesel engine in a capri? discuss

From memory thats a straight 6 engine. A lovely engine but I'd fear it might compromise the handling as the weight of the front of the engine would be quite a bit further forward than the front suspension was intended to carry.

How about a V6 Mercedes diesel ?

Re: My Capri failed it MOT HELP!!

If the calipers are reacting at different speeds Ive permanently fixed this a couple of times on different cars by cleaning the visible parts of the pistons and also carefully turning the piston a quarter of a turn in its bore. Also check the state of the flexible hoses- by carefully watching them w...
