Re: Project "Burke"
well project is in hibernation but not dead. We've moved and the garage is just big enough to get the shell on the jig, once its cleared of everything else! I now own rx8 axle, suspension, hubs and brakes. Over the weekend im collecting a (presumed scrap) 2.5 v6 duratec that had been mated to a manu...

Bought the axle, roll over jig etc but not worth getting settled into at the moment. Plans of a move preventing any progress at the moment.

Re: 2.8 Shell Project
Really sorry to hear.
I did see on capri world facebook page someone was after 5 shells to produce some zakspeed tributes - sounded like it was the guy who build the tribute car featured in classic ford

Hi Everyone,
Stumbled upon this Blog on a google image search. The guy mated a Lexus ls400 with a capri body. Anyone know how the story ends?

Found the following on eBay. Now I love a challenge, even though I don't know a lot about cars! I'm sure this will be a great project for someone, especially since a lot of the car is still there and I wouldn't criticise the buyer or the car. I think having a passion and belief in your project is a ...

Re: Project "Burke"
Hi Guys, After seeing the guys project that I was going to buy it became a non starter. Concerns I had were that he had adapted the sub-frames and welded to his chassis. I think id prefer to keep them modular, as they are on the Rx8 so that upgrading bushes, diff etc in future is as easy as it is on...

HI Guys, Going to try and start a thread, although unlikely to start any work before Feb - run out of money and its too cold! So, if pictures shared via Flickr works, you'll see this is my starting point. in my garage is a shell of a 2.8 on a B reg. Got the v5 now, got front and rear lamps and got t...

Re: End Of The Internal Combustion Engine?
I'm enjoying the post, because not one person has the complete answer. Likewise not one person can make enough difference. Great hearing everyone's views. Can I also comment that it takes approx. 12kw of electricity to refine one gallon of fuel. Bit of a waste of energy it could power a car from the...

Re: End Of The Internal Combustion Engine?
God knows how you can bling up a electric car but the MOT should be easy also if you live in one of them pent houses in London like mandela house peckham how long will your lead have to be to re-charge them batteries............? Excellent point and I've been thinking similar, though I expect elect...

Re: End Of The Internal Combustion Engine?
What needs to happen is some genius needs to invent a generic hydrogen or efficient electric engine and drive train that can be retrofitted to any car. Problem solved. It will be cheaper than building and buying a whole car, and people get to keep their old cars. Classics will be able to stay on th...

Re: End Of The Internal Combustion Engine?
Does the new legislation mean pure petrol/diesel outlawed? Bearing in mind the government hasn't managed to electrify the entire rail network yet, Id assume we'll have hybrids running until we're all in the ground! That said, a EV capri has already been done in Australia (mazda cab type), and you on...
Re: Welding
I believe the metal on a capri is 1.1mm thick. The zintec does help with rust prevention and i've been using it myself on my Laser but I would advise that you grind the edges to be welded down to the base steel. Make sure you use a mask both when grinding and welding with it as the zintec coating g...

Hi Gang, Bought myself a rusty 2.8i bare shell to save. Going to experiment with Soda blasting when I buy some kit and I will take loads of pics of the results. I want to first have a go at the inner wings and suspension turrets as its the easiest to get to where the cars dumped! Two questions for y...
