Had 25mm spacers on my Capri with no issues at all. Made it look nice but they were fitted to try and stop the exhaust rubbing.

I've got a very nice fresh built Pinto for mine. The engine has been in my dining room for the last two Christmas.

Either way I am pretty sure you can get one way valves from halfords

The old rivets have been left in. Take them out (carefully with a drill) and replace them to fasten your new bit on.

Not sure how you will go on with the taps and dies. I have always thought the threaded bit must have been lathed off a certain amount. The threads always look to me to be much smaller than the rest of the stick. The drill was to make the hole in the knob bigger. Once Araldited it will be damned hard...

I can only think that spacer is to fit a DGAS to a xflow.
