Re: Opinions welcomed - wheel spacers

Had 25mm spacers on my Capri with no issues at all. Made it look nice but they were fitted to try and stop the exhaust rubbing.

Assembled and fitted an engine. Then found the pickup pipe. (thankfully before trying to start it)
Done the sump plug trick too, plus way too many similar tricks that my mind has safeguarded me by forgetting.

Re: Safe refuge in the event of a zombie apocalypse

Not forgetting the Crowbar. I am very glad he made a good case for the .22RF rifle we can still have them in semi auto. Well that is just typical! As soon as I get rid of my semi auto someone tells me I will now need it for zombies  Not 100% convinced about them anyway as you really can't hel...

Re: common sense wins at last

Insurance is based on risk, and rightly so. If that means low risk groups get lower insurance and high risk groups have to pay more I can't see anything wrong with that. It doesn't matter what that group is based on IMO, whether it be sex, race, religion or age. Luckily for me I get much lower premi...

The old rivets have been left in. Take them out (carefully with a drill) and replace them to fasten your new bit on.

Re: Short stick

Not sure how you will go on with the taps and dies. I have always thought the threaded bit must have been lathed off a certain amount. The threads always look to me to be much smaller than the rest of the stick. The drill was to make the hole in the knob bigger. Once Araldited it will be damned hard...

Beakster is right.
I can only think that spacer is to fit a DGAS to a xflow.
Certainly never seen one like that before and definitely not standard.

Mate of mine showed me a similar pic of a bus engine. I think the reason above was the cause.

Re: driving round ireland, any advice?

Personally I just take an RAC card and a mobile phone. Give your car a good service and off you go. Without making light of things too much, a 1000 mile trip is feck all and I wouldn't worry about stuff. It's not like you are leaving civilisation and heading off into a remote desert or summat. The o...

If there is any change I think it will be to scrap exemption altogether.
There isn't likely to be a change for the better.
