Re: Just a heads up
Yeah , just short bits , maybe 2" long at either end of the main and return fuel line . I think my main fuel hose is plastic.😁 Spot on Hamish. Now that you mention it, does that plastic fuel line need to be or is it ethanol resistant or does ethanol only attack the rubber parts in the system, ...

Re: Just a heads up
IIRC that material type fuel line is used in 2 places on a MK2/3 Capri fitted with a carburettor, at the back - it makes the join from the metal fuel sender pipes to the main fuel lines (may only be 1 line if the car doesn't have a fuel return) and at the front where the main lines connect to the me...

Re: Just a heads up
Hi Hamish,
Fuel leak fixed lol
Replaced the 'chewed bit' with R9, don't quote me on this but the old fuel line had like a material type braiding around it, perhaps it was this stuff that attracted the little shits..

Just a heads up
Hi all, As the title says this is just a heads up. I have a Mk 1 GXL parked in a garage in my back garden, she has been in there a while and all of a sudden my partner and I started to smell petrol emanating from the garage, so went in the garage and could find no evidence of leaks but the garage is...

Re: wide tyres for 13" wheels
Hi mate,
Try Northants tyres in Aldershot, if they don't have them they might be able to point you in the right direction.

Re: Steel timing gear noise
Thanks everyone. I have ordered a kit from Ric Wood. He says the kits he sells are dead quiet whilst the steel gears are noisy so it appears these are good and also not breakable. Cheers Mark Dare I ask how much the kit was.... £235 Inc postage. There is one on ebay at £205 but ebay is ebay isn't i...

Re: Brake line colour
Only if the weather is guaranteed to be sunny with zero chance of rain, my chosen route swept to perfection, a mass insect cull of the whole route and finally 'wax and polish stations' every 30 miles  Wayne Joking aside I went to a car show a couple of years ago and a car arrived under its own...

Re: Valvoline VR1 is the dogs bollocks
There is talk of running thinner oil in winter isnt there, but it doesn't make much sense to me as the engine has this habit of warming up to operating temperature after a few minutes regardless of the season 🤔 I'm with you on this, I bought a 3 litre Capri quite a while back and the owner had been...

Re: Valvoline VR1 is the dogs bollocks
Mine has been run on only 20 / 50 through all seasons with high pressure oil pump for 12ish years. Bearings all good thus far👍 It did put a pinhole in the oil spray bar a few years ago though.. but could have just been a crap patterned part. Was still delivering oil though... more than it was suppo...

Re: Valvoline VR1 is the dogs bollocks
I have read that too much pressure pushes the oil through the bearings to quickly and in doing so the oil doesn't absorb enough of the heat generated by the bearings before it gets pushed out. I think a lot of people prefer a higher pressure reading on the gauge as its normally associated with an en...
