Re: Brakes

As an experiment to find the possible cause, press the brake pedal a few times with the engine off. It should soon feel hard to press. If it remains soft then you could be right in that the brakes need bleeding, which is an easy and cheap thing to try, although it may be something else, as previous...

Re: hardened valve seats

I had a conversation with Clive from Tickover a couple of weeks ago and mentioned this subject to him, he said in all the years the workshop was open he couldn't recall a single Essex engine coming in with this problem, he said the Cologne V6 was by far the worst culprit for this problem, seems some...

What a beautiful looking car, let's hope it hasn't had one of those dreadful Pinto engine's put in it.

I might be a bit late to the party here but did you all know that Esso Super unleaded contains no ethanol?

Re: 2.8 injection engine re build

I have changed all the old hoses for new. I even found what looked like snakes in the back hoses to the heater matrix, that’s the two small hoses at the back of the engine. I’m not running with a thermostat in the car to allow better water flow. I also have a bigger rad on for better cooling. I’m n...

Re: 2.8 injection engine re build

Viscous fan inoperative Silt in the engine which flushing will not remove? Recently had an Essex V6 on an engine stand, knocked out the core plugs and the engine had loads of Silt sitting in the bottom of the water jacket - no way on earth this would be removed by normal flushing, I had to stick the...

Re: Brake Master

have you got it piped correctly? it looks to me like the two outlets at the front are piped to one front brake and the rear line into the other? then the rear outlet, the pipe wiggles its way across the engine bay to the other front brake? i thought both front brakes are fed off the front of the ma...

https://i.ibb.co/8DBdRF6/valve-seats.jpg For those that dont think they need an addative or to get there valve seats replaced look at this photo, this is an American engine that had done about 20k miles with none of the above, the valves had gone into the water passage ways and they were junk. Re: hardened valve seats

The other option is just to drive it with no additive and save your money, you may never need them doing anyway. If the time comes in the future that you wish to have it done, the money you have saved will easily do it I should think. And you may never even need it doing in any case. :agree: Never ...

Re: Noise from exhaust

Thanks for the reply guys. Had my MOT and the technician listened to it whilst it was in the air and it is definitely coming from the bellhousing. He pressed the clutch and it disappeared so he reckons it's the clutch release potentially not coming away enough when released so it's tapping on the c...

Re: Tire sizes

I didnt know you could still get BFG's. They were the tire to be seen with round here ......probly 25 years ago. The raised white lettering is a marmite thing ( you either love it or hate it ). Here in the edge of the world anything different ( imported ) was cool ....wether it was actually any goo...

Yeah it was a choice, I heard that wider fronts tramline more. And I like the smaller fronts look. Thanks mate, just wanted to be sure before I spent 550 quid on tires I can't use! As for tramlining I have noticed that with 205's as well especially on the roads where I live - I guess it's the...

Re: Tire sizes

I'd say yes, but am very surprised you have 14" wheels? Usually either 13 or 15. Not doubting you, just an odd size. Hi Bug, Thanks for replying mate It is a strange size isn't it? I had to import the wheels in from the states - very difficult to get American wheels in 4 stud pattern but these...

Re: Auto box changing up too soon

Hi mate, Thought I'd post this as it may help, over the weekend I did an engine swap on my Essex V6 Capri, all went well with no issues but.....when I drove the car afterwards I noticed that the auto transmission was taking much longer to change up gears than it did previously - it used to make top ...

Re: Auto box changing up too soon

today and I realised that the throttle is almost completely on the floor I'm sure you've checked, but is your throttle cable set properly Danny? If you hold/prop the pedal to the floor with a piece of wood or similar, do you still have any play at the carb end? It's worth a check. I was hoping some...

Re: Auto box changing up too soon

I once had a C3 autobox that went absolutely nuts, changing up gears when not needed and all sorts of other nutty things, turns out the vacuum modulator on the side of the 'box had failed so this may be worth checking, there's a vacuum line from the box to the inlet manifold, pull it off at the man...

Yep those points look like they are for an Essex V6 Ford dizzy.
