Re: NGK Spark plugs

That's what I like about old cars.. off the road for 4 months, £9 quids worth of plugs, £20 of fuel and she started up after 30 seconds of cranking.

And dont get me started on electric handbrakes        Exactly - WHY???????? I like watching the fail videos of people driving cars into water that's far too deep. Re: Jobs on a car that were easier than expected and jobs that were harder than expected

As for jobs that were easier than expected, that was my dad's Yaris, the aircon condenser was knackered, so changed that and the radiator as that looked like it was about to go too. Lovely easy job, no nasty surprises, very simple and modular for a modern car, nothing to get in the way that couldn't...

Re: Jobs on a car that were easier than expected and jobs that were harder than expected

A mate or mine had a Renault Clio van. He suffered complete brake failure when the rod connecting the pedal to the master cylinder just snapped. Never seen anything like it. Well, we ordered a master cylinder after a major major headache finding one, it fitted in the bulkhead, great, but, oh dear, i...

The most egregious thing to me about modern vehicles is that they are so difficult to fix by the owner. Well, that and the arsenals of sensors and cameras helping accustom us to this Orwellian nightmare of indiscriminate surveillance we're walking into. yeah but ........the young ones seem to have ...

Re: First drive in an MG

My theory is that everybody likes the commanding driving position, being so high up. That's all an SUV offers that an estate or hatch can't. Andrew. That would make for a funny comedy sketch, the next generation of SUVs being slightly higher and therefore more commanding to see over the older SUVs,...

Re: First drive in an MG

I was curious though to see if I could get why everyone wants an SUV. Others will of course be different to this but generally I'm bemused. I think that in the main, it's the fad aspect of it and the keeping up with the Joneses. Neighbour comes home in a big shiny status symbol and it spreads. :agr...

My pinto mysteriously started doing this for a few months. Yes it's an unnerving experience isn't it. In mine it was a dodgy earth in the rear light cluster.
