Re: Shortest fishin trip ever

Got the boat out of the shed after winter and did the whole prep thing , changed all oils ( two motors ) greased prop shafts , the whole 9 yards .Took me most of a day. Backed boat off trailer at the ramp at Riverton estuary ( bit of sideways current ) and found that the steering was seized solid.....

Re: Whining sort of noise....?

I have also fitted bearings at home substituting a big hammer and length of scaffold pole for a press but a press is probably best practice! Like Peter, I've also changed a bearing myself. Just be careful when removing the old bearing not to grind a groove in the half shaft with the angle grinder. ...

Re: Whining sort of noise....?

I think it was Haydn_gnarlerboy on here that used some method of jacking to get the half shaft out. He said something about running for cover when it finally came flying out directly upwards.

Re: I put fizzy mineral water in my washer bottle.

It must have been done, but for a filthy prank, someone must have pissed in a washer bottle  you would have to ensure their windscreen was nice and clean first so their journey was well underway before it was discovered.

I put fizzy mineral water in my washer bottle.

..because it was all I had in the car. I was hoping for a supreme, bubble assisted clean, a double sparkling crystal clear windscreen wash of unparalleled clarity, like the grime would be lifted from the glass, providing an azure transparency never before experienced. But the pump just cavitated :lo...

Re: Whining sort of noise....?

Reason I ask is that mine made a droning noise for ages, I assumed it was the diff, then oil leaked from the half shafts so I swapped the whole axle with a spare. Still did it  Centre bearing going to be changed next. Did sound more like it was coming more from the passenger side and more from ...

Re: Whining sort of noise....?

Is it totally constant, like an "auwwww" or is it more resonating, like a rhythmical, even gentle "awww..wwawww..wwawww"? Or does it sort of do both at different road speeds?

What road speed does it appear at? Does it get louder or disappear as you go faster or slower?

Re: Electric fuel pump

I'm with pbar on this. I started mine for the first time in 2 - 3 weeks, no chokes, quite a bit of cranking, like 10 sec, before the first little sips got into the cylinders, then another 10seconds of firing and dying, then it ran with a little misfire, cured itself and was fine. I think it's always...

Re: Belated Unseasonal Motor Meet (Eastern Region)

Thanks Tom, that was a real BUMMER 😄 Fab weekend, great to catch up with the gang again. Good run home and it was nice to see Tom in my mirrors for the first 20 minutes. Must have been an interesting contrast in Capris for the people we passed 🙂 Yes I thought that, a minter and a rat, something for...

Re: Electric fuel pump

Would fitting a non-return valve in the fuel line be an easier and cheaper option? Tried one but it’s not very satisfactory, there’s still some drain back after a couple of weeks, it’s a random aluminium unit that looks a bit naff and just leaves another join in the fuel pipe (which I’ve just repla...
