Re: Should I be concerned about the difference in Spring Height?

Simply cut out the inner wing above the strut top and weld in 3cm spacer made from a couple of old baked bean tins.

Re: Replacing Type-F 4 speed Transmission, 2.0 Capri

That's the components I had to switch around with. Here is my modified crossmember for Type 3 / Type 9 and hopefully Type E boxes (not fitted my Type E yet though but should work with it). Plus the front half of the Type 3 propshaft https://i.postimg.cc/rsKH230p/20210927-125309.jpg ...I also needed ...

Thanks all!
Have spent the last few days sinking pints faster than U-boats ever could but has been a great few days!!
I find this grossly offensive. My grandfather was killed in WW2. He fell out of a guard tower at Auschwitz.

Re: Replacing Type-F 4 speed Transmission, 2.0 Capri

Unfortunately blewout 3rd gear in my 1974 2.0 Mercury Capri. I was never a fan of this linkage but I had a tall 2nd gear (1.67) which worked out well for Auto-X. Unfortunately, I cannot find gears for this transmission let alone a taller 2nd gear! So now what? I think my best bet is to put in a Typ...

I'm impressed the bloke opened the door.
If Tom had hammered on my van door after I'd photographed him speeding I would have taken one look and battened down the hatches. :xd: :xd: :xd:
He did actually open a little hatch and keep the door firmly closed

I've seen them locally parked in a 30mph limit.

That's part of the reason the Mustang went, over 400hp and looking out for speed cameras takes the enjoyment out of it.
Acceleration though! The legal way to speed.

Just got done speeding...

..mobile camera van on a disused overpass over the dual carriageway. Slammed on the brakes, but thought it was too late. So I drove up there and knocked on the door, "did you get me?" "Fraid so mate! Nice car though." We had a good laugh about it, bound to happen sooner or later I told him  hop...

Small typo, but I also meant to say that those components might have to be replaced or modified in no particular order of likelihood!

Oh, ok I just call it by it's generic name "drive shaft"; I had a straight one made a long time ago and never looked back.

Thanks for the pictures. Nice looking exhaust by the way:)
I am planning to make a single piece one out of those two actually!

Re: Replacing Type-F 4 speed Transmission, 2.0 Capri

So if your Type E is a different tail length, you might have to source a different prop and swap front and rear sections with your Type F prop. And if your Type E doesn't come with a crossmember, its likely you'll have to modify the Type F one to fit it.

Re: Replacing Type-F 4 speed Transmission, 2.0 Capri

Thanks Tom, what is the Propshaft? Also I assume cross member is where the tail section of transmission bolts to the chassis? Thanks again :headscratch: The propshaft is what connects the output shaft of the gearbox to the axle. https://i.postimg.cc/fLKRKdL2/20210914-190759.jpg You are correct abou...
