Re: How Much!!

This 'stupid' pricing is down to the people who used to collect expensive watches etc now turning to classic cars. The bubble will burst, It did in the late eighties, and it will again. We the true classic car enthusiasts just have to ride it out. I watch ebay and all the classic car magazines and t...

Mk3 remote mirrors

Just a quick question. My drivers remote mirror on my Laser has snapped one of the cables! now more that anything because I've owned this car so long and know that nearly everything on it is original I'd like to know if these mirrors are repairable?

Sometimes cheap tyres can cause excessive road noise, and this can appear as a drone. Had this experience recently with a customers Mondeo

Another colour question

Here's another thought for today for those Concours aficionado's like me. Mk3 rear anti roll bars, the eyelets where the main bush sits, that then attach to the chassis. Were these originally black in colour, or cadmium plated? cannot remember for the life of me what they were new. Sorry for all the...

Re: Car feels weird lol

There's always a know it all who knows someone who worked on the Capris at NASA etc, etc, yawn yawn. Cars could have been requested from new to have had a special Suspension set up, But trust me, they weren't thrown together! Near the end of the run cars were built to order, any shells that didn't h...

Re: Car feels weird lol

Having owned my 2.0 laser for 26 years, I have to say that the only thing I've never liked about it was the interior, Ford could have come up with a better design than that. I think that is the only part of the car they'd fallen short on effort as it was coming close to the end of the Capris product...

Re: Car feels weird lol

Sorry that was laser, not Capris, I've never come across a laser with single leafs fitted from new. Take from me having a relative working at Ford, cars were not thrown together with whatever was left near the end of their production run, that is well and truly a myth.

Re: Car feels weird lol

In all my years of working on Capris I've never come across one that was fitted from new with single leafs!!! This story of cars being the last on the production line getting all sorts of crap fitted to them is a myth!

Sad geek needing answer to daft question

Can anyone give me a clue as to what colour the original brake pipes are in the engine bay? trying to find it to tidy them up and return engine bay to standard, I know they're green, but what is the closest match, and where can I buy the paint. My local Halfords no longer do paint matching!! Also en...

Re: Car feels weird lol

As would excessively worn rear anti roll bar bushes! Due to stresses on the 'old fashioned' rear suspension set up of a Capri, everything has to be spot on to give the car a secure feeling on the road, ha! so to experience a wandered feeling from the rear, I'd be checking every bush from springs, to...

Re: Car feels weird lol

All lasers have multi leafs on the rears, 2.0s should have a single leaf fitted, they were from new! The single leafs rarely snap, however one or possibly more of the smaller leafs can go on the multi leafs. Wouldn't give the feeling you've experienced, only give away to broken leafs would be car si...

Headlight mounting plates

In the process of stripping down my lights to overhaul the back plates etc, and have a dafty question which I need to ask incase I break the plastic turning handle to adjust the aim of the lights. does this just apparently slip off, and if so what's the best method as mine are practically welded on,...

Washer and Expansion bottles

Hi,

Can anyone shed some light as to what's the best method for cleaning up expansion and washer bottles to as close to new! I've seen some absolutely spotless ones on 'concours' cars and wish mine to look that good.

Cheers

Re: Brakes pulling to the side

IF the car is pulling to one side under braking it can hardly be the rear brakes! can it. Regardless of how the pistons may look then can still be sticking, causing one caliper to not be working to its full efficiency, or the rubber hose on the one side can have collapsed, which restricts the flow o...

I very rarely comment on forums, but really feel I need to get my tuppence worth on this one!! While up to a point I agree with Martin's comments, a line has to be drawn somewhere!! There's making money and a living from selling parts, then there's blatantly ripping people off! and to be honest £170...

I'm looking for the nut and bolt connecting the shock to the axle, if anyone has a mint handbrake rod bush (where it goes through the diff cover), I need screws for the rear quarter panel inner trim, a good mint timing belt cover, plus thermo housing. All for a 86 Laser. Thanks

Re: Coming in on Wednesday. Another 2.8i for breaking.

Martin it's David, - Glasgow! I'm looking for small daft things. Firstly the nut and bolt attaching a shock to the axle! if it's in good condition the rubber grommet where the handbrake rod slides through the diff cover. I need screws for the rear quarter trim panel, 1 endcap plastic bracket, fairly...
