Re: Single Venturi auto carb leaking (+startup issues)

Yep correct Weber is 32/36 DGAV. No manifold adaptor...you have to get a suitable manifold. And, as yours is an auto, you'll need to sort the kickdown cable as well.

Re: Single Venturi auto carb leaking (+startup issues)

Ok. Pumping the accelerator 4 times before starting will over richen the mixture because the accelerator pump squirts fuel directly into the carb ventury when it's not sucking in any air so it sits in the bottom of the manifold until it mixes with the already rich cold start mixture when the engine ...

Re: Pinto engine change recomdations?

The transit engine would be a good Base for lary rebuild but I would just like a good reliable pinto. I'm on a bit of a budget with the engine so the 2.0 will be the best I think. Is it right that the 2.0 on a standard cam the valves won't hit the pistons if the cam belt snaps? Should be ok but no ...

Re: Front sitting too high

86 Laser is late enough to have single leafs as std, a few did as Ford began to empty the parts bins. Only way to get the ride profile you want is by fitting adjustable coil over struts. Otherwise it's trial and error with quoted spring heights. What your eyes are happy with might be a 2" drop ...

Re: Rear light wiring problem

Ok 1970's, 80's and 90's Ford rear light clusters, all vehicles from Transits to Fiestas, 95% of problems are down to poor earth connections. Some like Capris earth through the mounting screws which is a particularly dumb idea imho. Some have wires bolted to some inaccessible place onb the body whic...

Re: 2.8 a reg in Brookland colours

They're green 2.8's with fancy leather seats. That's all really. Rarish because most rusted away. Always park together at shows, their area is known as the cabbage patch amongst us oldies. Horrible colour green and, imho, alot of fuss about nothing.

2ltr cam, decent exhaust and manifold, 32/36 weber. Noticeable difference in performance, easy to do. Simples

They come wrapped in rocking horse poo. Been after one for ages. Try serious banger racers....but they are reluctant to part with them.

Re: Essex V6 carb jetting

Having spent money building a nicely specc'ed engine I would have thought it makes sense to spend some more money on a rolling road session where they can optimise your jetting, cam timing etc etc. Asking for jet sizes on a forum is futile. anyone who can know exactly what jets you need from a descr...

Re: Leaking brake fluid

I used to knock the reservoir off the master cylinder frequently until I put a cable tie on. Pull it down reasonably tight and it should stop the leak.

Re: Soooo

You can change gear without a clutch. Driving without one is not possible in traffic or at really busy times, but otherwise relatively easy to do. Upchanges are easy accelerate smoothly and make the change earlier than usual. Come off the power and ease the stick through. Down is trickier - brake un...

Ignition first but if that can't cure it suspect choke flaps (ooh err) stuck in closed position.

I see a thread conversation akin to Daisy's air leak at CoC a few years back coming on........

I'm guessing it was a similar scenario to the Minder and Professionals Capris with several different cars being used and numberplates being switched. That's why I'd never pay the extortionate amounts that these cars go for. How do you know it is 'the' car? :applaud: :agree: :applaud: :agree: :appla...

Re: High insurance on daily! why?

I genuinely believe that insurance is a complete rip off theses days. They seem to just quote you the first number that comes into their head. They definitely don't want your business....they couldn't care less. It's because they know you have to insure somewhere if you want to drive your car, so th...
