Re: Belated Unseasonal Motor Meet (Eastern Region)

Thanks Tom, that was a real BUMMER 😄 Fab weekend, great to catch up with the gang again. https://i.postimg.cc/qMTRjGTf/DSC-0873-2.jpg Good run home and it was nice to see Tom in my mirrors for the first 20 minutes. Must have been an interesting contrast in Capris for the people we passed 🙂 and I saw...

Re: Electric fuel pump

Has anyone fitted such a thing, and if so, where about and what power feed did you use? It seems to suggest out of the engine bay to prevent fuel vapour lock. Is the carb over run feed man enough for the job? For some reason, even though it never was an issue in the past, the fuel readily and fairl...

Re: Brake caliper.

Personally I would take it off, pop the piston out and give everything a good clean , it probably has years of crud in it. Really it depends if you are confident in fiddling around with it.
If you go the new route I would do both sides.

Re: Big hesitation.

I think the rich fuel smell is the giveaway here. Too much fuel getting into the carb so when you accelerate and it adds even more then its moving the mixture outside of a combustible range. However, if the above answers don't cure it then this is also a classic symptom of a failing accelerator pum...

Re: Timing Question - too much advance?

Is the car new to you or have you had a while and this is a new fault?
Just wondering what you know of the carb and what the emissions are like, is it running way rich perhaps? Is it on a standard cam?

Re: The Queen RIP

No offence intended, but as John Lydon wrote recently " I've got no animosity against anyone of the Royal family. Never did. It's the institution of it that bothers me and the assumption that I'm to pay for it" I have to smile at Mr Lydon, I suspect that he didn't do too badly from his as...

Re: The Queen RIP

My first boss. Known to us all as 'Auntie Betty'. With RAF Marham being so close to Sandringham we saw a lot of her. I don't know if anyone will ever truly comprehend the sacrifices she made to serve her country............to serve all of us.................for so long. Goodbye ma'am, and thank you...

Oh dear…. 700D04C0-59C8-4A63-B108-E13FA12389CF.jpeg I strongly suggest you all have a good eyeball of your fuel lines. These aren’t very old (but pre ethanol) and clearly have taken the right hump (to ethanol in the fuel?) and have perished badly. Caught it before any disaster occurred and ...

Re: Spotted on the M6

Feels like a missed opportunity  You know what Tom, I think it was the A9 (duelled section) we passed 3 MGBs in convoy yesterday tootling along at around 50, passed another on the M6 tootling along at about 50. There was the RS2000 on a truck, maybe for good reason, another really nice looking...

Spotted on the M6

Saw this rather nice 3.0S on the M6 this afternoon and as we were in a 50 stretch the other half was able to get a quick snap. Also saw a really nice RS2000 on a flat bed. Looked like the sort of car that is ferried between shows. Sorry, no pics of that one. https://i.postimg.cc/3RHTTqBK/DSC-0858-2....

Looking a bit sad

Spotted 'somewhere in Scotland' today. Just heading back to our cottage after a day out and saw these at the roadside. I'm guessing the the burgundy laser is a scrapper. The other looks sad on first glance but maybe isn't really so bad. There appears to be another under the tarp, perhaps a resto? No...

Re: Capri 2.8i Distributor Clamp

A small 10mm ring spanner will do it. There's not a lot of space but slacken the bolt slightly so the dizzy just turns, tighten it up once your timing is OK and then check it is still where you want it and you should be fine.

Hi Peter/Andrew, I've got my loctite to seal the diaphragm on the metering head, one more question to you both,on the tube insert that fits into the metering head all the slits must line up with a port on the metering head yes but what is the significance of the notched section at the end of the tu...
