Re: Starter motor strip down and refurb
To be honest, for the work involved in trying to fix an old one I'd buy new and know that it was going to work OK.

Pretty sure you're sat on a flexplate worth a pretty penny there Peter! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-V6-2-8-C3-AUTOMATIC-FLEXPLATE-4-STUD-WITH-BOLTS-AND-SPACER-RARE-A4LD-/164421100143 I only paid £35 quid for mine last year  Blimey Dan, that's more than I paid for the engine! Might need t...

Re: Wanted: 2.8 V6 flywheel or starter ring
This is on the back of my spare engine. I take it to be from an auto but I assume the ring gear is the same - it looks it to me. DSC_0473.JPG It does look like it i know it has 138 teeth and flywheel location size is 10.5", is that ring welded to the flywheel? could just be the picture, The ring is...

Re: Rear anti roll bar help
The original bushes had a metal sleeve which needs to come out too. If you left it in the hole is probably a bit tight to get the new bushes in easily. The sleeve might be rusted in and need cutting out with a hacksaw - remove the blade put it in the sleeve and reattach to the saw handle. Go careful...

Re: Window channel felt
Not sure what you mean by inner door skin but the black frame that the felt is in un bolts and lifts out of the door when it's open or there is Andy's way. The felt runs to the bottom of the door so there is a little free to pull up.

Re: Must be spring
I always figured that parking next to the most expensive vehicle was prudent as they were the least likely to bash their door into my car......but that only works if the carpark is busy. When Im out in crapi I dont park it out of sight. Old classic Fords ( or certain parts thereof )are a good prize...

Re: Knocking noise
Before you get too deep into it, are you sure it's a mechanical clunk, and not a knock being generated by driveline shunt due to the engine faltering? I had something similar years back - turned out to be the coil breaking down. But if it is something like that, how come he's only getting it in low...

Good to see a nice project and a Capri coming back. Takes me back a few years although I didn't have much welding fortunately.
Keep it coming

Also one more question is anyone here sort of south London area / surrey ? It would be good to have a contact of someone with a capri that has a bit more knowledge than I do that can possibly help me in the future, I've got a few jobs id like to do on the car and it would be great if there's someon...

Re: How to fit mk3 bumpers? (non standard Capri)
Just picked up a rear bumper local with end caps and brackets which has spurred me on to try and fit them to my Car (already have the front beam, indicators and now indicators looms). Problem is someone has smoothed off the front and rear end so its going to be a little trial and error. Problem 1: ...

There are various excellent Capri manuals but yes, that is the Haynes you need, as per your link. I found this Haynes the other day which I think I'll need to invest in! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sex-Haynes-Explains-by-Boris-Starling-9781785216534-Brand-New/352952395617?epid=19036427828&_trkparms=...

Re: She loves the attention really!
Well... We went back a while ago to collect the daily and I left the wife in the Capri while I went inside but after a while she came and found me. Seems that she got fed up with being gawped at after the third person came out of the workshop for a look and a reminisce! Wha....? All her old boyfrie...

She loves the attention really!
The daily was having a main dealer service today and as its about 12 miles away we take two cars and leave one with the garage. As I was booking it in a chap came by telling me he'd just been talking to my wife about the Capri. I bet she loved that I said. Not a fan then he asked. Well... We went ba...

Covid Capri
So we had jab number 1 today which is good but also means I'm in a seniorish age group. Oh well.
Anyway, the daily is in for service so Capri number 1 is earning its keep today and took us to the vaccine centre. It was the only one there

Re: rear quarter window sealing
Just had a good look at it. On the other side, the vertical trim allows the horizontal trim to go up to the glass, on the passenger side the horizontal trim is overlapping the vertical trim hence why it cant go right up to the glass so i need to take the trim off, does it just price off? Here is a ...
