Re: Clonk while turning wheel

Apart from being caked in grease nothing looks particularly amiss. If this is happening on full lock that will be when the most stress is being put on some of the components. I would be looking for sideways movement in the steering rack where the nearside (but check both sides) goes in to the rubber...

A perverse pleasure!

So I won something on ebay today, not for the Capri for once. I left a winning bid last night, got home earlier and I'm the winner. There was one other bid during the day from someone who waited until 6 seconds before the auction ended and then missed out by 8p. I get a sort of perverse pleasure fro...

Time Travelling Nick?

The 1981 Headingley Test would have been a great thing to witness. Has Nick popped back through time to be there? What have we at 17.31?

Re: Out for a spin....ish !!!

Brrr - you're keen, wrong time of year for me for an MOT. Take it in for a test in late springtime (if they'll let you??) then you can fettle it in warm weather. That loo will come in useful eh. Being a time-served plumbob, mine also has suitable facilities. The cars haven't moved for a good while ...

Well, if you're going to have a garage .... :D

In fact it has it's own loo as well! Sadly it's in a box just out of shot front right

Out for a spin....ish !!!

So, after working long hours through January I took the day off today. :) As I haven't got the 5-6 inches that Paul has I thought I should get the Capri out. So I got it from here https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7902/46898910032_8e428b69f6_k.jpg DSC_1008 by Peter Smith , on Flickr and put it here! ht...

Re: Hub redrilling

Daz es exactly that, im after japanese wheels so either 4 or 5 x114.3. From what I've read when machining shops do it they usually just weld up the old holes and redrill the new ones. Peter I've got a pillar drill or access to a proper man sized one if needs be, and arnt wheel studs just smashesint...

Re: Modernising the Ford Capri

A bit like Dave I wonder if this is serious but ... Most things can be done to a Capri. There's monstrous engines, 4wd and stuff so you can undoubtedly do want you want but it won't be bolt on bits so you're looking at a lot of work and probably expense. At this point, much as others have said, I do...

Re: Hub redrilling

I guess drilling them must be possible but you would presumably need a pillar drill and some means of securing the hub to get the holes perfectly straight. Not sure how you get the spline in the hole though which grips the studs in place.

Seems a bit weird that we were getting excited by the pending introduction of 'Panavia MRCA Tornado' when I was still at school and now 40 years later I'm thinking they're withdrawing it from service too soon! Here's one of the Duxford residents that Bug mentioned https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7913...

Re: Classic ford magazine

Often wondered why it's called Laser page and not just The Ford Capri Page :? Because it was started by Mark Swetnam in relation to his Capri Laser. It used to have a smallish Q&A section that was purely technical but gradually developed and became bigger, costlier and more time consuming than ...

I guess you're confident that Mrs Nick never dips in to the forum or checks one Nick Bowler on You Tube. Could make pleading innocent a little more tricky if it was ever necessary :D :goodluck:
