Re: When a plan goes out the window...

Sometimes standard struts are fitted to a 2.8 as a cheaper option. Proper 2.8 come up for sale from time to time but usually fetch good money.

Almost like learning to drive again!

So after 3,000km in a Toyota Corolla hire car with an auto box and wipers on the left and indicators on the right (remember when they used to be that way in the UK?) we handed it back and came home. Jumping in our own car at Gatwick seemed a little odd. Couldn't think how to start it as its a push b...

Re: Ford's 50th Birthday celebration of the Capri

Consecutive weekends is perhaps a pity but if it can't be helped so be it. My main reservation is being fair to Brooklands and not trying to compete but you seem to have that in mind. Whenever you pick a date there will always be someone who says they are away or the event clashes with something els...

As the nights get darker and we find ourselfs doing little winter projects I would post this little picture up as at first I thought it was of the mother in law . As I had rubbish internet at the time that downloaded slowly, a bit like the old dial up - quite effective all things considered. ...

Re: Carb Blockage

Since it's a cheap option I would look at the battery connections first. Take the terminal connectors off and make sure they are clean and especially give the earth lead a good check and tighten, including where it bolts to the block.

Re: Carb Blockage

Well I tried another condensor, and the problem remains unfortunately. Still cutting out on idle (after a few miles/warmed up, but once it does it, it will then do it again and again), and rev counter slightly erratic. Think I will try the coil next. Any other suggestions more than welcome. Thanks....

Re: My hot Capri

What condition is the rad in? A replacement might be an idea.
Does it get hot driving or just when sitting idle? If it is all the time then I would look at the rad but if it is just at idle perhaps your viscous fan does not work properly.

Re: Carb Blockage

. Anything else I might do whilst it's off? Also, is it common practice to use gasket sealant on the carb top gasket, or just put it on dry. Thanks :) Take the idle jets out from the screw housings and check them. There should be a rubber seal on each housing, perhaps they are starting to perish. H...

Re: Drum brake cylinders and handbrake cable

For the light problem try cleaning the metal parts inside the brake fluid reservoir lid. The system works off spring pressure but if there is any crud in there it can mess up the circuit with a bad contact.
For the rear shoes can you pop up a picture, possibly they are the wrong way round.

Saw this sign leading to a small naturist beach. (Since you ask the beach was empty and no I didn't strip off!)

Re: MK3 Passenger door mirror glass

The plastic trim that holds the glass in place does come out. It is held in by a series of tabs that need to push down to release. My experience is that it tends to break the glass in doing it but I might just be ham fisted! If you can get the mirror out safely you will sometimes find they are doubl...
