Various Capri parts new / used

Prices do not include postage. I'm starting to clear out my garage and there's quite a few bits in there. I'll keep the list updated as I find stuff, not sure on the prices so I've been searching on ebay and deducting a little. I'm in Cambridge if you want to collect anything. 2.8i K&N air filte...

Re: Capri on Eastenders

It had pepperpots on when I sold it to them, they did tell me they were going to put different wheels on - can't remember if they said Rostyle or four spoke though. I'm happy it's gone to an interesting home in the (east) end. Since I can only have one car now, I've gone for something sort of inbetw...

Keep an eye on Eastenders

Not sure if this has already happened on TV, but Alfie Moon is returning to Eastenders. Apparently he left the show driving away to do a road trip in a Ford Capri.

I only found out because the company that supplies cars to the show bought my Capri as they no longer had the original prop!

Re: Selling - 2.8i 1982

Bump - £3.5k will buy this car, not bad for one with a huge level of restoration and a lot of new parts including an unleaded conversion (expensive).

Re: Insurance help desperately needed!

When I was your age all my friends and myself just went with third party fire & theft. Why are young people going fully comp these days? It's a rip off and not worth it on a car you can take to any cheap local garage or fix yourself. 1906 is a lot of cash, glad I was born when I was.. I remember...

Re: Selling - 2.8i 1981

Well - car is for sale now - just had a new clutch put in and a partial gearbox rebuild so the rattle is history.

Anyone interested?

Re: Capri 2.8i very hot (again)

Well that was interesting - just checked the voltage regulator (fine), the viscous fan coupling (fine), and left it idling for ages, then took it out for a run and thrashed it, left it idling again. All normal. Just as hot outside today as it was yesterday too. All I can assume is that there was an ...

Capri 2.8i very hot (again)

Hi all - car was barely used over the winter - was just getting it ready to sell, had a new clutch put in (finally found the rattle - release bearing!), drove it back and the temp guage nearly hit the red. Symptoms: 1) Warms up very quickly. 2) Temp reduces with increased RPM (slightly) 3) Top rad h...

88 left in that colour? It would seem highly unlikely that there are only 88 Capri 2.8s left ;)

Re: Selling - 2.8i 1981

I'm going to throw it on ebay at 5k with a best offer button and see what happens. I hear what you're saying but the paintjob on this car is really fantastic, very thick and glossy. And no I absolutely will not put those awful rubber trim bits on it - even if it costs me a grand not to. All they do ...

For sale: BMW 750i Individual 1998

Not sure if this one will be of interest to anyone - selling my 750, cheap. 1500 buys it, it has a stack of service history from my ownership about an inch high, new aircon compressor, new tyres in the last year, sunroof resealed, basically anything that needed doing. It's a 1998, 126k miles, metall...

Re: Price check / might be selling - 2.8i 1981

wheres the side mouldings?... Owner chose not to have them put back on when all the work was done - to be honest I think he made the best decision. Is anyone on here interested? I'd rather not deal with all the tyre kickers and time wasters that live on ebay. I'd take 5k but any less and I'll just ...

Selling - 2.8i 1982

Can't afford to keep two cars anymore and I've got some points coming so the insurance on both is going to increase, so I'm selling my 2.8. It's a black early model 2.8i with the rare 4 speed gearbox, and has had lots of good work done to it. The good and bad: Bad bits: Oil leak from the right angle...

Wanted: oil cooler/extension seals

Sadly not got the Haynes in front of me right now - but from memory doesn't the 2.8 oil cooler live on a right angle extension?

Anyway, I was told a while ago that it was leaking a bit, seems to be leaking a bit more now - does anyone have a spare or spares for that whole area they'd sell?

Crunchy gearbox

I was turning into work today, went to change from 3rd to second, and .. *CRUNCH* *CRUNCH* Foot back on the clutch, now out of gear - tried again... *CRUNCH* *CRUNCH* At this point the car was out of gear still, so I let it coast around the corner, put my foot back on the clutch and got it into seco...

Nissan Capri....

Look at Autotrader, sadly I can't find a way to get a useful link out of the site, I'm not registered so can't use 'send to a friend' or whatever.

There's a Mk2 with an engine from a Nissan 200SX....

Dash cover mats

I realise it would be easy to just make one, but does anyone know if there's a place selling dash cover mats? Something to stop the sun ruining the dash top. They're quite common in the US for Mercury Capris, seems strange I've never seen one here. As a side note - just saw the photo of that possibl...

Re: 2.8 rocker cover knocking

I thought tappets were usually quite high in pitch - like a taptaptap, this is a klonkklonkklonk. I thought it might be the bearings at first because the sound is quite deep, or the cam, but the noise is VERY loud right above that cylinder on the rocker cover, and quiet everywhere else. You can feel...

2.8 rocker cover knocking

It wasn't doing this before the recent long trips - my engine is now knocking, mostly at idle, sounds smooth past a certain point. It has recently had new heads, the noise is coming very specifically from the front of the driver side rocker cover, tested with listening through a bit of wood. Passeng...
