Re: Pinto engine change recomdations?

I know it's not on your list and ruins originality but the st170 is a good option in terms of cost to power ratio! However, I've got a 1.6 pinto in mine and intend to convert to a 2.0 pinto to at least retain the originality a bit. I'm going for the transit 202 block with low compression pistons as ...

Re: Lead content in original paint

Are you asking what type of paint you should buy to use for your repairs? Just trying to clarify in the hope of seeing some answers :) Sorry, I should have been clearer haha. I was asking because I wanted to know how safe it is doing my own body prep for a respray (obviously using standard safety g...

Lead content in original paint

Hey guys,

Is there much lead content in the paint used in 70's/80's Capris as mine is in need of sanding down in a few areas where it has started to blister, and I'd like to attempt the repairs myself.

Cheers, Shane

Difference between MK2 & Mercury Capri grill

It may seem like a silly question but what are the key differences? Are the indicators just standard MK2 units secured to the grill or were they specific to the US spec Capri? Also, the 'Capri' lettering looks like it's a removable badge where as the MK2 'Ford' lettering looks fixed in place? I'm lo...

Re: Laser + GL

I have a chromed rocker cover on my pinto which looks great with the contrasting black paint. Either that or satin black is always a winner!

Goblin Works Capri

Has anybody seen the episode where they transplant a 5.0 Coyote engine from a mustang into a 2.8 Capri? The American makes reference to the Capri as a granny car and is critical of the 2.8 only making approx 160hp. I love American muscle cars but having driven a Challenger and a Mustang, can safely ...

Re: Custom front valance

I have a fibreglass one on mine, great shape and mould if you decide to go down that route! Danny Do you have a photo of it mate? Cheers, Shane. I didn't take any pictures before I fitted it, but if you check my thread, on the first page there is a picture of it being fitted and sprayed... http://w...

Custom front valance

As in title, has anybody modified an original valance or fabricated a newly designed one? The front Valance is the one design aspect of the Capri I'm not a fan of! It just seems to have unecessary design features which are all rust magnets as compared to the MK1 for example. In case you've not guess...

Re: Capri 2.0 Pinto Carb issues

Thanks for your advice, come to think of it did only begin to run rich on an incline! The revs dropped erratically on the tacho when it began to splitter so that could be it too. The fuel gauge isn't working although I doubt that's related to the issue...

Capri 2.0 Pinto Carb issues

Hi all, I recently purchased a 2.0 MK3 capri automatic which was sold to me as needing work due to a misfire. It drove well for most of the journey home but cut out on the way back upon braking - it soon became clear that it was running rich as it was difficult to start and eventually had to get tow...

Causes for misfire on Pinto engine

Hi all, I recently managed to start my capri for the first time since purchase. There appears to be a misfire which affects the car until it is warm. In addition, there is also a squeal upon start-up. It's had a brand new dizzy fitted, rotor arm, a carb tune up and a new battery. The revs also seem ...

are these made to order generally?

Re: Lancaster Insurance

I would currently recommend them, as I have had no issues. Seem very clued up when speaking to them on the phone and e-mail documents come through without issue. I haven't had a claim with them yet though, and that's when you find out how good someone is. But yes, I like them so far. Thanks for you...
