Re: Capri stolen Manchester

The days of leaving classic cars on the road without an alarm/immobiliser or a plain wheel clamp and disklok are long gone..... Still no excuse to have your car stolen, but make it as difficult as possible for the Ba*****s. :goodluck: Yeah, lesson learned. It's been garaged in a secure lockup for t...

Re: Capri stolen Manchester

Hi everyone, Cheers for the support! Got a message on Facebook last night from someone who spotted the car on Tuesday morning driving towards Ormskirk. Not much to go on but means it's probably in the Southport area. Does anyone know if the coastal Capri club is still going? Their old site is archiv...

Capri stolen Manchester

Hi all, long time no post! My car was stolen last night (Monday 15th May) from the Worsley area of Salford. Very distinctive car - Black with white stripes, 15" revolution 5-spokes (on new uniroyal tyres I only had fitted on Friday), big bore exhaust, no badges on the back, yellow recaro front ...

Stalling. And can't change gears when hot!

Hi all, So after four years in a garage my car is finally back on the road and generally running well. I've got a couple of problems though. The engine (24v cossie boa) cuts out at junctions, meaning i have to ride the throttle. It also occasionally goes lumpy as hell. It's down to the gearbox no lo...

Old Ford Specialists in Manchester

After six years in the big smoke I'm leaving London behind and going where everybody knows your name, and sometimes they smile and talk to you... Hello Manchester! Does anyone know any old ford specialists/old boys or modders garages who know the cars in the area? I'm living in a flat with not much ...

Re: East kent trim carpets - any good?

Precisely it Andrew. I don't mind paying fair money for an item if it keeps the line (and so the spares industry) alive. Can't imagine they make much off each one! Only problem with second hand is that I need black and full console - and that's a hard combo to come by. When they do, they're often no...

East kent trim carpets - any good?

As above really, has anyone fitted them and how are they? Do they need any trimming or alteration to fit?

Bit pricey but i reckon it's not bad value when considering it's a pretty specialist item, can't be all that much demand for capri carpets!

Re: Still looking for a 1.6 speedo drive gear

Cheers for suggesting BGH renaulthater, they had exactly the part in and double checked my calculations to make sure it was the right one. Gave me a pretty reasonable price as well.

Six weeks of searching and the answer was right there, typical!

Re: Still looking for a 1.6 speedo drive gear

Cheers guys, Unfortunately I've had no luck with either ford, burton, Martin or bearing kits, I'll try BGH though! I was given the 24 tooth figure by Tickover, and the chap whose name I can't remember from bearing kits (Martin?) Seemed to think that was the right one too. Whether it makes a differen...

Re: cyclist

Oh go on, I'll have a tiny wee wade in then as a cyclist (who stopped cycling in London after 5 years due to a series of non-fault accidents) and (recently reinstated) capri driver. I also drive professionally for work. I do think there needs to be some kind of fee for bike users. BUT since it obvio...

Still looking for a 1.6 speedo drive gear

Hi all, Apologies for posting the same request again, but I've had no luck elsewhere. I'm looking for a 24-tooth speedo drive gear for a type 9 gearbox - the one that would have been in the 1.6 laser. If anyone has a knackered type 9 lying around or knows a 1.6 being broken, or might just have one l...

Front seat recovering

Can anyone recommend anyone reasonably priced to recover two front seats (recaros) in cloth and vinyl?

How much do you reckon I'll be looking at?

Cheers,

Sam

Speedo ratio question (also cossie rev counter question)

Trying to get my speedometer to read right after many years, so to make sure I'm searching for all the right parts... Am i right in thinking that to get an accurate speedo reading on a 2.8 type 9 running through a 1.6 back axle, I'll need the standard gearbox speedo worm, and a 24 tooth cog? Seperat...

Mk 3 black passenger side mirror and iffy recaros wanted!

Morning all, Looking for a couple of spare bits for the car. Firstly, a black passenger side wing mirror. Seem to be oddly hard to come by at the moment! Secondly, a pair of Recaro front seats. The fabric can be knackered, but the bolsters need to be all solid. I'm going to get them re-covered to ma...

Looking for a 24 tooth speedo gear for a type 9

Can anyone help? Looking for the above part so my speedo doesn't read 130 when it's doing 50... (currently got a 2.8 gear in there so it's all kinds of messed up)

Oh, and hi everyone. I've not been on here in about four years!

Re: Red MK2 (More pics...)

I'm a big fan! Especially like the white walls, surprisingly for me as I usually think they look awful on 'modern' cars! Not so keen on the yellow lights, but the rest of it is a spot on smooth retro ride. Awesome seafront cruising machine

Re: Restoration cost

Modded capris seem to be losing a lot of value at the moment so even with the x-pack (which will look smashing) expect to only fetch £4k for the car when you come to sell. The price sounds fair but for the money you want a good job with photos of the work along the way. I paid £1,800 inc VAT and pai...

Re: Vinyl Striping

Option 3 is my pick! Can't beat a bit of stripe action. The best way to apply is with a piece of string measured down the centreline of the car, and regular measured and cut pieces of masking tape laid accross it so you can keep the stripes even and level. Measure each part of the car, and cut the v...

Re: My letter to the rip of artists at adrian flux

I'm paying £500 a year with Graham Sykes on a modified car policy. I've got a 1.6 shell running a cosworth boe 2.9i engine, modified interior, modified brakes, modified headlights, modified suspension. It's on a 5k milage limit but was £200 to upgrade to unlimited. I'm 24, 2 years NCB and I work on ...
