Re: Laser Seat/ interior Fabric Production
Turbo-Mike, The drivers bolster on my laser is worn, just a ball park figure but how much would I be looking at to get a replacement panel ?

West Coast Customs
Just been watching Inside West Coast Customs, the episode where they restore Greenday’s tour bus, and there seems to be a Mk1 Capri in their workshop. I don’t normally watch this show so wondered if the Capri had featured in any episodes ?

Re: Great vintage newspaper advert
The Daily Express did a heap of similar half page adverts for the laser around the mid 80s which I have stashed somewhere. Wish I could find them !

Lovely Capri and nice that he's kept it stock. Shame that the old 'bag of cement in the boot' myth was mentioned again though.

Re: Del Boys Capri
I'm guessing it was a similar scenario to the Minder and Professionals Capris with several different cars being used and numberplates being switched. That's why I'd never pay the extortionate amounts that these cars go for. How do you know it is 'the' car?

An early example of Ford's product placement I wonder ? They did it in Carry on Cabby with the Cortina.

Never a fan of body kitted Capris and always thought the Tickford looked a bit naff back when they were new, even moreso now. I'll pass

Nick someone's pride and joy, rag it round the neighbourhood then chuck it in a lake and walk away laughing. Morons. Wonder if the ride height will go back up once they clear out all the sand ?

Re: The Phantom Book
Spotted this guide in the Tesco in Sunbury on Tuesday, they had a whole pile of them. However I was slightly disappointed to find that quite a bit of the content was lifted from recent Practical Classics issues which I already own. Nevertheless still a nice thing to have.

Hi Caprikid,
3000 rpm at 80mph seems about bang on. I just use normal unleaded in mine and it runs fine.

George Cole had one as his personal transport when they started shooting Minder I heard.
I love that pic of Jackie Stewart and his RS. 1970's coolness at its best.

I assume the white around the edges is just the screen delaminating due to age. Mine has gone like this in places.

Re: Top gear dvd
I can't believe that the BBC went to the trouble of finding two lovely examples of the Capri, transported them all the way out to Capri and then didn't film them being driven around the island. I think there's a pile of footage to be released at a later date. Both Hammond and Clarkson are fans of th...

Re: Good mechanic Aberdeen?
I use Westhill Garage just outside Aberdeen as it's my local and the workshop manager owned loads of Capris back in the day. They're not too expensive and seem to be used by a fair few old car buffs in the area. They look after my moderns too.

Re: I know what I'll do....
Hmmm, I'm usually a bit of a stickler when it comes to originality but I've never liked pepperpots even when the cars were new. The 7 spokes are a bit better but I'd have it on minilites or 7" RS four spokes if it was mine, either back in the day or here and now. Easy enough to change wheels if...

Re: Ford Capri Racing on channel 4
Fantastic stuff ! I was 12 years old again there, sitting watching Grandstand World of Sport on a Saturday afternoon with my old man. Also makes you realise just how crap and boring Formula 1 is when you see Capris, Rovers and the rest battling it out like that. Great in car cam and soundtrack too. ...

Re: Rear door cards not fitting right
Back in 1985 when I bought my first laser this was one of the things I noticed about the car. It was a low mileage, one owner example and was less than two years old but the rear trims had a very poor fit. When I queried it with the salesman he took me along a line of 4 brand new lasers and injectio...

Re: What size tyres are on your capri?
80s kid, I've got 185x70x13 on my Capri, that's what it came with when new but I have to admit, compared to modern cars they look like doughnuts ! However I like to keep the car standard so that's the size I'll stay with, even if the local 'yoof' do have a snigger to themselves with their rubber ban...
