Re: Anyone know or got a Veetech 3.5i Cologne?

Hi all, I know this post is a little dated now but I have a new 3.5 built by dave davies Interesting! Is Dave Davies still building these engines or is your engine new but been in storage for a while? I was wondering if he is involved with this company now http://www.rndengineering.co.uk/ford_v6/fo...

changed a few bits still no good, tries to fire
Hmmm... That mixture screw is very sensitive, half a turn either direction will throw your mixtures right off. How far did you turn it and which direction?
What was the few bits you changed?

US 2.8 six port heads are easy to identify as they have a different inlet port configuration to the normal 2.3/2.6/2.8/2.9.

Re: V6 cylinder heads

Another way to tell the difference between the 2.3/2.6 and a 2.8 siamese port heads is the waterways on the head face. The 2.3/2.6 heads, the waterways have a single curved slot on the exhaust side of the head and the 2.8 has two separate holes in the same position. The head in the front is a 2.8 an...

I bought a new timing light a while ago ( got an optilux ), just a basic xenon bulb job . I saw there are ones you can dial up how much advance you want 🤔, so you can set the light to 8deg and look for tdc on the pulley .........instead of just lookin for 8deg on the pulley,...........beats the shi...

Re: Cologne camshaft comparison side by side - anyone know?

If you're running the K-Jet inlet manifold make sure you port/flow it to get the most from your heads. The K-Jet manifold is a major restriction in air flow and good gains can be had by porting it. ;)

Sometimes what seems like 'common sense' is anything but! Really helpful to unders...

Very interesting my man. Yeah, can't remember his surname. Olly, from AES Engines at East Dereham. Of course I'm talking 25-30 years ago now. (Oh and Tom, as an aside, as of next Monday it will be 9 years since I last saw you! Time flies) That'll be Olly Sparks. He posts on here sonetimes. A gamble...

Re: Rocker arm modification?

I basically made the distance between the pushrod and the rocker shaft centerline shorter, and that has made a small change in the rocker ratio. It has moved the rocker closer to the valve center line, ideally I should really move the rocker assembly away from the valves and that would give another ...

Re: Rocker arm modification?

Hmmm... Not sure what the idea of welding to the rocker arm is, but if you're trying to increase the lift or change the rocker ratio, lengthen the rocker tips won't work. That's because the colognes rocker assembly are fixed along with the distance from the rocker pivot point to the valve centerline...

Re: 3.7injection

Very nice. I wonder if they used the standard crank from the 4.0 litre Cologne that was used in the Explorer & Mustang or if this was a purpose made crank. Yes I believe they used the 4.0L crank and offset ground the crank with 0.060" oversize bearing to increase the stroke 2mm, from 84mm ...

Apart from the vastly superior 6 port inlet manifold, didn't they come from the factory with hardened exhaust valve inserts in the heads?
