Re: Help with Temp & Fuel Gauges. Need help diagnosis

Hi Steve

Much appreciated. I'm at wits end.

I'm meant to be putting car back together and all I've been doing is taking it all apart.

I'll do a test tomorrow and get back.

Re: 3.0s needed

Hi Dave, 3.0s are quite desirable and with Capri's now making over 2K your prob talking 3K upwards for a decent one. Keep your eyes peeled on the the for sale section, autotrader and a few of the local capri clubs websites. From experience, when your looking one, you can never find one. Then when yo...

Re: Help with Temp & Fuel Gauges. Need help diagnosis

Me again,

Since I had no takers on this I went ahead and fixed the voltage regulator.

I'm still stuck with the same problem. Fuel at top and temp at bottom.

Gauge circuit looks pretty fresh too.

Anybody any ideas?

Help with Temp & Fuel Gauges. Need help diagnosis

Hey guys, I'm aware of the voltage regulator causing issues but let me explain my issue. It's a 1.6 I'm putting back together after a long restoration and a respray. Both temp and fuel gauges are off. Tested the temp gauge by shorting the feed wire. So gauge is working. Tested the temp sender with a...

Bilstein Insert Replacement

Hi Folks, My 2.8i bilstein insert on the drivers side has given up the ghost. Few years ago it started as knocking vibration in left hand bends. Then started shaky steering under braking. Then after doing bushes, full on throw you off the road shaking in bends. After changing EVERYTHING including th...

Re: HELP! Major Vibration - Is it the rack?

I like your thinking on the tyre balance. Although the steering wheel is rock solid at high speeds. The slack knocking noise is right behind the gaiter in the steering rack which makes me think its that. I don't know much about them but would there be a flexible joint for the arm going into the rack...

HELP! Major Vibration - Is it the rack?

Hi Guys. I've spent most of this summer working on the front suspension. Replaced all the bushes, new TCA's and a new top mount (although this hasnt sorted my problem) I had her on a 50 mile cruise last sunday and all was well with the world. On the way to get her aligned on Saturday, in a left hand...

Re: best rad for 2.8i capri ??

I can backup the previous comments.

Despite people warning me, my 2.8i never overheats, especially in the current weather while sitting in traffic.

The best rad to replace it with is another 2.8i rad.

Re: 20 years and its back

When I first got my 2.8i it had airlock. That time we took the rad cap off and ran it, while squeezing the bottom hose till it blew a lot of water and the airlock out. If I'm filling the rad up, I normally just get the bottom rad hose a few squeezes to make sure the air's out. I've never had a probl...

Re: Painting Cylinder head?

I used a high temperature metallic grey paint from an aerosol. It was from Halfords I know that, not sure what brand, I can have a look. They came up rather well with just a bit of prep. https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/299668_10150410003314258_828142751_n.jpg I painted the roc...

Roller Top Mount Problem

Hi Guys, I've noticed a thumping noise getting more louder, despite the best efforts of the volume on the radio. It's happening over bumps etc or when I'm doing 10mph and I hit the brake, I get a thump. So finally did some bouncing up and down on the wing with the bonnet open and noticed, not only i...

Re: Pulling to left after TCA replacement

Hi Guys, Thanks for the advice. I'm going to do the other side to have them the same. Before I do that, the MOT guy said that the anti roll bush looked small in the new arm and that there was play in the wheel. Again this was brand new out of the packet. That has me thinking should I get a replaceme...

Jeez Craig, shame to see you go. Did you make it to Kilbroney?
We have to catch up at some show this year before you go.

Reproduction Dashboard's

I was talking to a guy with a Capri at the weekend. He told me two odd things: To stop a Dashboard from cracking. Put factor 50 on it. :cigar: Then he said somewhere in England someone is remoulding dash tops on Capri's. I looked into this before and I never found out bout it. He told me to google i...

Re: type 9 gear oil change?

I've done the prop out method multiple times. An awful lot of unbolting to do though.

I had the front up on ramps to gain access and also it allowed it to drain. I left it over night and came out to find my tub full of water with a skim of oil. Type 9's let water in apparently.

Best of luck.

Instrument Cluster circuit tracks repair

Had to take the instrument clocks out last week to fix a sticky wiper motor with a hammer. This was 10pm at night before my MOT so with much haste I must of damaged the clocks circuit as nothing was working at all. My clocks circuit is quite bad. I had to completely bypass it and run leads straight ...

Look what I got at a auto jumble

I was in the market for a pass side wing mirror and was at a car show on Sat. Just happened to spot this lying under other bits & pieces. Could hardly believe my eyes that none of the other ford guys had got to it first. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/MrSonic/IMG_3625.jpg Its a bit rusty...

Re: need help have 2 problems with the cappa :(

My wipers stopped working last week. Had to take lower dash and facia off just to get a peek at it. A rap to the motor with a hammer fixed my problem. You going to have to take the radio and the right vent piping move out of the way. I think the front part of the dash that holds the clocks unbolts w...

Re: Pulling to left after TCA replacement

Thanks Ghia,

I just thought it was weird the car pulling so far to the left. I thought I broke it.

I know a guy with a proper rig for tracking a car. I'll have to call in with him.
