Re: Rear Window Heater

Sorry this is late but what I didn't realise is that it is negatively switched. So the the brown and the brown/yellow sends a negative feed to the coil of the relay.

The heater now works and all is good. Thanks everyone for your input

Re: Brown wite from handbrake

I know you said its from a MK2 but brown wires are negatives in a MK3 and i doubt they changed their minds on the colour for a negative. This would suggest the handbrake is negatively switched.

Re: Rear Window Heater

The fuse is all good. I have temporarily put in different switch which I know works.

Guess I'm just asking if anyone has an accurate wiring diagram of this system.

Re: Rear Window Heater

Yes the relay works fine and I have 12v on the brown/yellow wire. I'm guessing the black/red is the negative but I am struggling to find where that goes. The other two wires are the heavies for the heater itself.

Am I correct that the black/red wire is the negative?

Rear Window Heater

Hi all, i am trying to get my rear heater working.

I have tested my relay and all works fine.

When I press my switch nothing seems to happen and the relay does not click in and out.

Any ideas from the relay as to where the wires go? and where they should join?

Thanks

Hopefully the picture works okay. But it's the bottom part of this picture. This should be at the bottom of the cylinder

Re: Master cylinder

Just had to check if had a 2.8 servo and I do. There's plenty on eBay but some cost a fortune which I'm sure they don't need to be. Just wondering if someone had any spare parts. Weber's need setting up end of next week so hopefully someone might have the bits I need in time. Thanks everyone for you...

Re: Master cylinder

Thanks for the reply. I assumed that a bigger bore meant a stronger braking capacity. It's the second set of seals and spring at the bottom of the cylinder. Some of the metal has corroded away, the seals are fine.

master cylinder

Anybody know where I can find the internals of a master cylinder? I have upgraded mine to 2.8i (22.2mm) bore but when on inspection the metal parts inside are damaged.

Just need the internals of a 22.2mm bore master cylinder. If not I am willing to buy a 2nd hand complete unit.

Ignition coil plug?!

Anybody know where I can buy the 2 leads which push on to the positive and negative on the ignition coil???

I can use ring terminals but they don't look as good as the old school method.

Re: Humming noise (REAR)

Well it shouldn't be the bearing then. The only other part at the rear that would make a humming noise is the fuel pump or maybe a speaker has blown but I wouldn't of thought it would make a hum noise. Only if your listening to white noise then maybe but I don't think that's anyone's cup of tea. Hop...

Re: Humming noise (REAR)

Usually a humming noise is the wheel bearing on its way out. Can check by jacking up the car at the rear and see if there's movement by pressing or pulling the tyre walls. Facing the wheel have both hands on either side of the tyre and press or pull in opposite directions. Compare with the other sid...

Re: Radio wiring

Yellow is switched

Red is permanent there should be an inline fuse not far from the radio.

Don't think I have ever seen a blue wire going to the radio. Must be the earth!?!?

Re: Mk2/3 Parcel Shelf

My 1986 2.0 laser came with carpet on the parcel shelf. As far as I know the car came original like that.

Not sure about any markings though

That's a great link. I still couldn't find where the yellow wire goes to though!

Anyone else have an idea

Ammeter wiring

Hi all, I have another wiring issue. My ammeter is not working so I have removed it and tested the coil and it is showing the correct ohms across both terminals. Just need some help with the colour of wires and where they go. I know that the red is connected in the engine bay with the alternator, ba...

Re: Handbrake Switch

Thanks for the reply. You were correct with the wire colour and how many. I checked the lamp and that was fine but on further inspection I found the tabs to connect the instrument cluster to the lamp were squashed and not completing the circuit. Tested both handbrake and brake reservoir and all is g...
