Re: Wanted MK3 Drivers Door

It's becoming a nightmare, I've been looking on eBay for 12 months now really. They're all really expensive, or on the south coast. So I've just got outbid by £3 because I've considered my max bid as £130 Inc fuel. I've asked 3 to wrap it and wait for a courier and all said no. Obviously if I could ...

Re: V6 Type 5 gearbox differences

So for future knowledge because I couldn't find it written on the net anywhere.. The input shaft on the 2.8 and the 3.0 are different, the 3.0 is about an inch longer. You cannot cut the extra off because the spines protrude too far, I know because I've tried it! As I have had to is strip both boxes...

Re: V6 Type 5 gearbox differences

Thanks for your reply, I think I may have mixed up what I was saying. I'm swapping like for like type 5 4speed gearboxes This one is a mk1 that appears to have a new input shaft in it but is so sloppy The one in trying to put in is a mk3 2.8 4 speed type 5, but the input shaft appears too long. But ...

Re: Steering rack

I've had this problem as i was too tight to buy a new rack. I was told a lot of old usually manual rack ends (Tie rods) could be tightened up, and yes they can. Works for the pas and manual racks. Just take the boot off and get some big grips and turn the knuckle, there a really tight. Good luck. BT...

Re: pinto EFI spluttered and died now has no spark

Jon, Pin 6 on the ign mod should be brown? if so that needs to be earthed. Some diagrams dont show it as brown tho, but im sure every one ive seen has been brown, pritty sure the only way it would of started before was if this was connected up tho!

Have fun!

Yes the original plastic pipe is not made to take the pressure.. Copper pipe can be bent nicely into place. You can use flexable braided or rubber hose (High pressure) if you wanted but i didnt like the idea! just looked a mess.

Re: 2.0 Pinto EFI

Keep the fuel pump next to the tank less hassles thats if ur using a 2.8 tank. As for the throttle cable i use part of a capri cable and the end of a sierra one, mounted together with a block connector has worked well for 2-3 years used on my pinto efi and 2.9 efi not problems and have never snapped...

Re: It's not that difficult - surely.... (young mechanics)

Back to this topic ay! Well have to say.. I personally am happy to jack up on "my" mk3 sill! Although the axle and chassis rails are better! But A lot of capri's i have seen i would never jack on the sill because the sills are in such a unknown condition! A lot of new cars now the jacking ...

Re: hawk car alarm

With the engine running wire, i put mine onto the activator wire on the back of the alternator, just seamed the easiest way at the time, i had mine on a 2.0 efi. Like Chris says, may not work as well on a carb depending how well it starts.. Mine had a problem witch i never got round to fixing, so fi...
