Re: Capri V10

After what seems like an endless task of design and fabrication I finally had enough of the front suspension to mocking up the front wheels... I changed the design significantly mid fabrication by deciding to use BMW stud instead of the original ford... this means new wheels, new hubs, new wheel bea...

Re: Capri V10

Also worth mentioning I am an amateur at carbon... I'm self taught and before making the bodywork for the noble i had no experience in composites.

If you have time, its something anyone can do :)

Re: Capri V10

I vacuum for them, I built myself a cheap very efficient oven using celutex and some domestic oven parts. Resin systems have moved on a huge amount in the last 10 years, the industry has been transformed... I make some prePreg parts, but the large panels are resin infusion cured to 80 deg c in my ga...

Re: Capri V10

Yes I am making doors, I already have the moulds although I removed the door handles and changed the trim along the glass to match what i had done around the rear glass... so they will fit a standard Capri, but they have some minor differences. For those concerned about crash protection, the composi...

Re: Capri V10

No its not going to be a ford capri, but arguably closer than a Zackspeed capri as it will actually look like a capri standard lol. It will be registered as a brand new car, probably 2020 plate by time I'm done. Paint scheme will be pearl yellow with a lacquered carbon roof... so it looks like a vin...

Re: Capri V10

Bit of an update, I made the first carbon bodywork mid last year and was able to finalise a lot of the chassis.... Ive also been working the final design of the front suspension, its all designed specifically for this car and from scratch so its taken a lot or planning. Over the last 4 months Ive ma...

Re: Capri V10

Splashed a bit of black and quickly polished it up, now the roof, scuttle, passenger door and left rear quarter are ready for moulding.... going to spend some time getting the right quarter and door ready this weekend then I will start the moulds. Been using the alloy wheels that came on the capri f...

Re: Capri V10

I have been working on the Left side of the car over the last few weekends... basically I have to reproduce the shapes that I have done on the right side. You would be amazed how much filler goes into building basic shapes, of cause most of it ends up on the floor and eventually in the hoover lol. I...

Re: Capri V10

Spent quite a bit of time on the chassis in Feb... I'm now back on bodywork and hope to start the moulds in the next month. https://www.dropbox.com/s/t94vs4kn8sipd79/F0A8D100-2DA9-4615-8E10-9639AF959802_zpswle41gsz.jpg?raw=1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/st2vgzwt1agw28v/2B1107A1-A43F-4177-AE78-41ECC267C...

Re: Capri V10

This shell will be 'spare' and sold once moulds are made... as my wife keeps reminding me every time I talk about starting the moulds. Its a very very solid shell which is the only reason I haven't cut it to pieces to help progress the build, its just too good to sacrifice. Realistically it won't be...

Re: Capri V10

So... though long and hard about going back to my tried and tested V6 with silly power (my noble with its ford mondeo V6 has over 700bhp).... had to go right back to my original dream for the car, and that was for it to be a real oddball exotic, its not all about speed as I already have that covered...

Re: Capri V10

Sorry Missed your question. Plan is to build a full space frame, it will also have my own design of double wishbone suspension all round and different alloy uprights etc, APs all round. Sometimes plans do change and I have been seriously considering fitting the duratec V6 that I have developed a rel...

Re: Capri V10

Not done huge amount to the Capri as mainly focusing on the Noble, however it did mean that the noble was going to be on axle stands for a few months so I wanted to get the primer on the capri body that I had worked on so far... I have spent a week designing and shaping the rear arch and smoothing o...

Re: Capri V10

Managed to get some garage time over the weekend, my focus has been on ride height / stance... After much tweaking I have managed to get the car another 1inch lower than before and only 5mm higher than I originally wanted before the engine stopped play. Therefore it was time to start modifying the a...

LOL Ive got a few bmw V12's lying around unused that all def fit... 300bhp similar weight to the ford V6 with an exhaust sound to die for lol I ...

Re: Ford Fest Santa Pod

Yea I'm going to this in my noble.... Hi, Noble M700GTT eh? Awesome! Fantastic video on YouTube, by the way. That car is insanely fast... :D Have a good day at Ford Fest. All joking aside, there will be plenty to see there. Andrew. There was indeed plenty to see there, including lots of capri's :)

Re: Capri V10

Not done huge progress as I did my back in tiling the utility room and have been struggling to actually stand up let alone do anything meaningful. I have been trying to nail down the colour the car will be... My Wife always wanted a yellow capri, so I really want a pearl to make it 'pop' against the...

Re: Capri V10

Yes its worked on a points scheme and you MUST have 8 points to retain cars identity, the chassis or monoque represents 5 points. The issue is that the 8 points MUST contain the 5 points of the Chassis or Monocoque and it must be unmodified.... DVLA have issued clarification notes stating specifical...

Re: Capri V10

Thanks for following. I have decided it will have to go through IVA, can't really legitimately avoid that without downspecing the project significantly... cutting the tunnel to fit the box, modifying the bulkhead, 4 linking the rear and even cutting the rear arches to fit the X pack DOES mean if DVL...
