Re: Mk 3 2.0 - it begins!
Cheers guys! :) The garage was a priority when we were building the house! The difference a clean out and some wall and floor paint before starting the Capri was the best decision!! Thankfully i've not discovered more areas of rust so far from what I saw it when I bought it. Ya I agree on the blasti...

Mk 3 2.0 - it begins!
So bit the bullet and decided it's time to get cracking and get the project underway after sorting out my garage... Parked up in its new home for how long, who knows! Would love to get it finished for next summer! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v83/s_ully/Capri/56951EEB-80F2-4886-8D8D-3E8C0D374B7...

Re: What I did yesterday...
Cheers Nick & Steve, ya the white walls make a big difference but a nightmare to paint, it took almost 20L and that was only one coat, but couldn't justify / afford getting it plastered or anything, will give it another coat sometime, should be a lot easier! But it's a way brighter in the...

What I did yesterday...
My garage was a dusty dumping ground in where the Capri would just squeeze in, so I said right before I really begin to tackle into the Capri, the garage needs a bit of sorting out! As my wife said it was like me getting a nursery ready for a kid!! Which is probably the best way of describing it!! B...

Re: Struggling on WOT
Jacked it up and had a look so its out of the speedo cable hole alright, not leaking too much only when jacked up it leaked more, will try a temp fix until I get the box out and top it up... Will be fine as the most driving it does is a 1km round trip to see how she is if I've changed something! So ...

Hi Andrew,
Yes seems a great place with great knowledge already!
Yes, if a car is a classic (30 years + and pre 87 I think) then yes they are acceptable! Personally I much prefer them to white plates!

So had another look and fuel filter was in bad need of a clean (replacement kit on the way) had a look at the accelerator pump jets and below is before and after! Thanks Guys, so definitely on my list and ordered is the few bits mentioned above. Will have a look at the Accelerator pump tonight along with the Jets and see how it is, might leave opening Carb until repair kit arrives as knowing me, i'd say the gaskets may fall apart if opened! Nige - from your l...

Re: Hello!
Hi Neil,
Thanks, from Cork in Ireland, its a 5 speed.
Yes it'll keep me busy for the winter(s!) but looking forward to getting stuck into it.
Just getting to know the car and sort a few smaller bits before going head first into it!

Thanks Peter, yes a service is on the cards, got oil and filter today so will try to pick up Leads and few other bits and give it a thorough look over at the weekend and then I'll see how she's running.
Hopefully tackle the carb the following then once kit arrives.

Hello!
Hi there, New to the forum, just purchased a 83 Mk3 2.0 in need of some TLC... Overall not in bad nick but I'm sure as I dig in it'll show its true colours, apart from a few usual bodywork bits it's had a 3 colours in its life! Started as silvery blue to yellow to red, all bad jobs! http://img.photo...

Struggling on WOT
Hi There, A Capri owner for less than a week, bought a resto project, but just getting familiar with it myself at the moment before getting stuck in, will get some pics up soon. It's a 1983 2.0 standard with no mods. So the issue is, it's running well, starts with out any drama and idles well, if yo...
