Re: A9 paint code

Danny, when you lift the board that covers the spare wheel there would have originally been a sticker that gives the paint name, code and XSC number. It's on the left hand side as you look at it normally. If your car still has this it may solve your problem. Be careful with the black, get your man t...

Re: Who Remembers?

One of the best for me has to be Basil Fawlty whacking fuck out of that Morris 1100 with a tree branch. Also Del Boy falling through that bar. Loads of others come to mind and I agree it was a golden age of TV comedy.

Re: Capri on TV

Well I thought the first episode was tremendous, enjoyed it a lot. Gorgeous Capri the guy has, not a colour you see very often. I think it is Nevada Beige. I had loads of Fords in that colour back in my dealing days; it was very popular. I think the car is a 77 or 78 1.3L with optional vinyl roof a...

Re: Jobs on a car that were easier than expected and jobs that were harder than expected

Oh yes MGF, that was a horror being mid engined. Everything you did on one of those was a mare, I had a girlfriend who had one 15 years ago. Every job turned out to be a problem. There was plenty of access panels but just bad design again and being MGR group everything had been compromised to save ...

Re: Who Remembers?

I didn't realise you could do that with a dynamo?! You must have been travelling at some speed. I was keeping up with the cars so probably 40 ish. :xd: It was a Puch Pursuit racing bike. Do Puch still make Bikes ? I had a Puch Free Spirit 10 gear racer - with dynamo lights and mileometer! The thoug...

Re: Valve Seat Recession questions

I would say VSR would cause a loss in compression and if anything make the starter spin faster.

My pet hate is CV boots. Not especially difficult but all that yukky muck. Also front springs on W123 Mercs if you (like me) haven't got the right compressor. Anything with corroded, snapped off or rounded bolts.

I will think of more later no doubt.

Re: First drive in an MG

Not a fan of modern day MG cars. In fact I rank them as cheap Chinese takeaways and I wouldn't piss on it if it was on fire. (Which a lot of the electric ones will be at some time).

Yuk.

Re: Feeling safe at night

Police these days are revenue raisers and data collectors. PC doesn't stand for Police Constable these days, rather the other meaning and they are too busy trying to be PC rather than effective. To feel safe as I live on my own I have a cricket bat under my bed. The bastards would be knocked out of ...

Re: master break cylinder

If the car didn't have a servo in the first place then I would guess so. If you want a servo I would suggest getting a remote servo and mount it in the engine bay somewhere - this is relatively cheap and easy to do with a single circuit brake system.

Re: master break cylinder

I may be wrong but I would imagine getting one listed for a Capri may be difficult. However Girling master cylinders are popular and plentiful and were fitted to most makes of British cars in the sixties, seventies and eighties so you should be able to match it up. You may have to swap the push rod ...

My best mate had a V- reg Highland Green 1.6 GL. Lovely old car in beautiful condition and he only sold it because his wife was a short arse and couldn't see over the bonnet.

I really like that colour, had a 2.0GL Cortina in it years ago as well.

Re: she's not the Queen

The old Queen, QE2, decreed that she was to be called Queen Consort. Upon Charles becoming King he altered the decree so that she would be known as the Queen. It's a pity that the old Establishment stuffed shirts didn't allow him to marry her in the first place before she married Parker -Bowles and ...

Ian Lavender - last of a great cast of one of this country's funniest comedy programmes. Rest in Peace.

Also Jonny Irwin, presenter of A Place in the Sun, a show that gets a lot of people dreaming of going elsewhere, robbed of his life at just 50 years old.
RIP Jonny.
