Re: MK3 Headlamp washers

They were an extra, my laser has them, but they are extremely rare and finding parts to fit a system will be difficult and expensive.

Re: Custom exhaust advice for a pinto.

I can't remember for the middle hanger but the rear one bolts through a sleeved hole just behind the rear spring hanger. Obviously the right hand one isn't fitted on a 4 cylinder but they are available new or secondhand and easy enough to fit. I would assume the centre hanger would have provision to...

Re: Bodies 3.0S

Triggers broom springs to mind. :) You got it in one there and that probably applies to a lot of the Capris on the road today. When I finally get round to starting my 3.0S it has got to have a roof, both wings, outer sills, bonnet, front and rear panels and lower rear corners . Not much originality...

Re: Another Capri Stolen....

Apparantly you can get some bag to put your keys in that blocks the signal from being transmitted to the thieves. What would be worse though - them just taking the car by cloning the signal or them breaking in to your house to get your keys? I generally take mine upstairs when I go to bed and the sp...

Re: Who Remembers?

I had a Hornby OO train set as a kid and loved it - had steam engines that actually steamed and quite a bit of track and other bits and bobs and I used to play with it quite a lot. Unfortunately play with it were the operative words and it was quite bashed about by the time I dug it all out about 15...

Re: Laser advert but not as we know it

It's the Australian badge engineered 323 which they sold instead of the MK3 Escort. There was an older version of it that came in in 1980 when Ford stopped the MK2. They also had the Ford Telstar which was a bastardised 626 which they brought in when Cortina production stopped. GM were at it too sel...

Re: Daily Driver In Danger - Mk3 Ford Capri

Jeepers - I thought it would be the flywheel bolts that were the problem but I've never, in 40 years of working on cars seen all 6 sheared off like that. I have in the past managed to get sheared ones out by center punching the sides round as if to turn the bolt in an anti-clockwise direction - you ...

Re: Capri 2.0 GL Reg: XVC 389X

It shows up as being on a Sorn but no MOT details held which I guess means it's been off the road a long time.

Re: Nice mk2 2.0GL on ebay

Nice find, it looks like a good honest car. According to the description, Capri production ended in 1994. I didn't know that! Andrew. I think the description of the mileage is about as accurate as that unless the car hasn't been looked after properly. It's a lot of money for a 2,0GL with an ...

That’s really good , I have magnified glasses that I use and two lamps with magnifying lens . But I use the headlight glasses all the time for watches and some times could do with just a bit more so might get one of them as it looks like it will do the job . Nice find Andrew . Here’s one light I us...

This was another product that had to change its advert because some idiot thought it cured aids.

I do like the new orange zero flavour though - nice drink without the calories.

Re: Horrible Engine knocking

Did your mechanic actually remove the sump to find the big end gone? Also I still think a compression test would be a good idea before you start taking things to bits - that idle was very lumpy.

If you need help getting machining done I do know them reasonably at the engineering firm we talked about.

Re: Steel Wheels

I wish you were a bit nearer Andy, I'd grab them off you in a flash to put them on my 3.0S while it's being worked on. The tyres on the current alloys are so knackered that they go flat 2 days after blowing up. I didn't want to get the rims re-furbished until the car is nearly finished. Ho Hum. I've...

Re: Daily Driver In Danger - Mk3 Ford Capri

If it is a loose flywheel I suggest you obtain some new or known good secondhand bolts and use some locktite threadlock on them before torqing them up.
