Re: lights??

Relay is the square box under the bonnet screwed to the bulkhead, just above where the dipstick is.

Check your headlight earths are Ok before touching the relay as well as the fuses including those in the relay.

Re: Guess the car game !

The orange light or badge or whatever it is has thrown me. The windscreen rubber looks BL to me and the only BL ones I know that had square windscreen tops were MGB's and Marinas. The Marina had a similar chrome strip round the wheel arches but the MG had them down the sides. The colour looks like B...

Re: Timing belt

When a new belt is run for the first time it will take a few seconds to "find its line" but so long as it's tensioned OK it shouldn't come off.

I'm beat. Not doing very well with recognising cars today, withness my mistaking a VW Derby for a Fiat Mirafiori in another post.

TBH looks like a spacehopper stuck in a washing machine!

:agree:

Should have looked harder and known that! Not as sporty as the Mirafiori but would have lasted a lot longer!

Re: Blast from the past.

Kitting cars was all the rage back then, not my cuppa but that one looks well done. Round here there were loads that had the treatment but probably even more Escort cabriolets - usually white with white roof. All the essex girls loved em! Mind you anything got kitted, Chevettes, Cortinas, Cavaliers ...

Re: Timing belt

Sometimes the spring pressure isn't enough to fully tighten the belt so you have to finish it off manually. Loosen the 13mm headed nut on the tensioner and loosen the splined spring holder bolt as well then push the pulley out manually until the belt is tighter. If you can't push it enought use a le...

Re: Send in the Clowns

Must say you never see a police car now adays Funny you should say that, did a round trip to Manchester this weekend (took my daughter to a concert), a trip of 5 hours driving each way for us due to roadworks. Didn't see a single police car on the motorways. Donut sales must be up this month :whist...

Re: Ford Capri in the Daily Mail Motor Review

They are basically "L" spec seats with an even more fragile covering. Luckily I managed to find a pair of good front seats for £30 a couple of years ago so my interior is quite good but I'll put covers on them to protect them from further wear. They frankly would have been nicer with the L...

Re: New Car Programme on TV Soon

It's another show that would be far more watchable without the tosser extra presenter such as Mario. He's this show's Mike Brewer, Tim or Drew. Oh I just wish there would be a show where the person doing the work was the one and only presenter and the work done was the centrepiece of the programme r...

Re: cross roads

What goes wrong with the Pintos you have tried? Are you just fitting second hand ones or are you in a position where you could have one professionally reconditioned by a qualified engine reconditioner?

Re: cross roads

You surprise me Blitzy, the Pinto is usually quite a bullit-proof engine unless you drive it like a cnut. If you're going to sell the car I'd recommend putting it back to as standard as possible condition even if that means going back to a 1.6 engine. I'm sure that putting the diesel in will devalue...

Welcome to the forum, I think you'll be most welcome on here. We all are devoted Capri lovers and can be as mad as a box of frogs as well! Got to say that it's very good to see a Capri that has been in the same ownership for so long and it still looks to be in very good condition. I bet you can't wa...
