Re: How Much!!

It's amazing how much they've gone up. I sold a black H-Reg XR3i about 8 years ago and had a job to get £500 for it, even with a full MOT and it being reasonably tidy. Wish i'd kept that instead of my SD1!

I cut the hedges and the lawn to avoid said wedding then did my washing and went shopping whilst some random football match was on.

Re: New Car Programme on TV Soon

I have to admit that I've lost interest in all these car shows. They each seem to follow the same formula year in year out and most centre around some gobby egotistical presenter rather than the restoration work. I have no interest whatsoever in customised vehicles so that rules out many of the Amer...

Re: Floor welding

Most people just make a repair patch just bigger than the corroded/cracked area, drill a 10 mm hole in it and bolt it to the floor using a seat bolt then just weld it over the top of the existing area. To do it properly you could cut out the bad area and make a new plate using the cut out bit as a t...

Good work and great to see another one saved. It seems they rust just as badly in Croatia as they do in the UK!

Re: New Daily driver

They used to be a good comfortable car. Worked on quite a few over the years. This one looks nice and is the even rarer 3 door. First job must be cambelt and water pump unless you have proof of it being done recently. Also check rear brakes as cylinders don't last long and rear brake shoe linings ca...

Re: Mk3 GL Radio Query

That's how they were wired Danny, no need for permanent live as no tuning memory except for the preset buttons. Could be an internal fuse, dry wiring joints or anything really that would stop it working. Probably best get someone in the know to look at it. I would think the centre speaker would be a...

Re: Advice on selling my Laser

Get an MOT on it, people will pay much more for one they can drive away and use instantly. Clean the nuts off it, inside, outside, under the bonnet and get the wheels and glass shining and a spray of tyre foam on the tyres. Photograph it somewhere nice, not in a garage or a front lawn with the bins ...

Re: Fuel pipe clips

When i do mine I was going to use stainless rubberised p clips and to secure them just drill a hole and use a rivenut with stainless screw. Much more professional than just sticking a self tapper through the floor. Two clips (one for each pipe) could be secured through the same rivenut. https://www....

Re: new wheels fiited

Hi Nick, The wheels look gorgeous! 8-) As you say, these new wheels have an immediate impact on the looks without lowering the car. If it was me, I'd use the car how it is now before taking the decision to change anything else that may affect the quality of the ride. All the best, Andrew. :agree: A...

Yes that would fit. It's very similar if not the same as the Ford radios of the period - Blaupunkt indeed made a lot of the Ford radios for them.

The GL's of your one's age just had the standard Ford P21 M/L wave radio with one speaker in the centre of the dashboard.

Fly Fishing by JR Hartley was the best.

Yellow pages is stopping this year I think, our last one was only about 5mm thick. Another bit of history replaced by Google.

On Capri power there is a comment about this and it says

right click then open in new tab
Overtype.org with .cc
Enter
Share - hotlinks for forums and replace URL code.

This means nothing to me but perhaps it might to one of you.

Postimage problems

Some of the older photos posted using postimage have disappeared. The problem is that they seem to have changed from photoimage.org to photoimage.cc or something. I have the computer brains and ability of a halfwitted snail so I wondered if anyone can find a fix?

I bought it from Mr "Barnowl" last year and it's staying exactly standard and in its original colour as I've never seen another "S" in Pine Green.
