Re: Advice on funny running
It wasn't long ago that you did the clearances Danny was it - or was that the other car? If you check the clearances pay particular attention to the exhaust valve clearance on the duffy cylinders - tightness could indicate that the valve seats are receding. To check the torque converter you need to ...

Re: RIP Shane Macgowan
This week has seen many famous faces pass away, Shane McGowan, Henry Kissenger, Alisdair Darling (former Chancellor of the Exchequer under Gordon Brown) and now this evening it has been announced that Briget Forsythe (Thelma in the Likely Lads amongs other things) has passed away. A bad and sad week...

Re: Battery Cables
Just checked on mine Nick and where the original earth bolts into the block by the fuel pump it has a 17mm head which I guess would correspond to an M10 bolt. I'd chuck a spanner on yours and just make sure.

Re: Who Remembers?
I remember as a boy in the mid 70's that Fred Evans, the owner of the chippie round the corner from me charged 5p for a small chips and 6p for a large chips. I have no idea as to what fish cost then or now as I'm allergic to the stuff. Regarding petrol, as an even smaller boy in the late 60's I reme...

They're so good you'll be frightened to sit on them and buying (leapordskin?!) seat covers to protect them.
A great job Nick, you must be so pleased.

Re: Who Remembers?
it was probably Izal toilet paper any way. Izal, the very definition of `unfit for purpose`. How did they ever get away with selling that stuff??? (You probably need to be of a certain age...) My Nan used to have this in her toilet. It was like stiff greaseproof paper. Also had it at School. Horrib...

Re: Can't get a spark from the coil
I've twice used accusparks, one on an mgb and other on an early mk2 golf and in both cases I took my time fitting them and they worked well for ages - no problems. I've dug out Accuspark's own fitting instructions and if these were followed to the letter. I 'm sure there would be less failures. Afte...

I would normally agree about Americans on You Tube and the like but I came across one recently that is actually humerous and his fauly diagnosis is very clever. SouthMainAuto repairs. Eric O and his wife run a ''shop'' repairing vehicles and his fault diagnosis is very clever. I suggest you watch a...

I'm going off Hubnut as, since he's been with that squeeky little fiance (wife?) of his, the program has become far too PC for me and my not very delicate constitution.
He is a huge celebrity in motor vehicle youtube shows.

That is an absolute top job Nick, Mike has done a beautiful job. I may contact him in the future to repair my Carla recaros which just need a repair on the black cloth of the driver's backrest and the piping redone on both fronts.

I used to get marched up the stairs by mum then put over her bed and I got 3 of the best from her slipper. Dad once took his belt off to me when I had been particularly naughty. I still loved and respected both of them until their dying days and I thank them for giving me a wonderful childhood and t...

Re: dash facia
I remember that for MGBs, Mercs and several other vehicles you used to be able to get a stick on walnut veneer or carbon fibre look dash vinyl but cant seem to find anyone who does one for a Capri. I also have a good dash with its clips etc still intact and would love to get something to do the same...
