Re: Oh I wish

Nice car with lots more pics on the Capri 280 website You could always build another garage Paul   Reallistically I can't buy any more at the minute. I'm in the midst of doing up my house to sell and buying my sister out of her share of my late mum's house as well as urgently needing t...

Re: radio

What is strange is the JPS wheel had the flags on all of them even the white 1.6jos you see around also the airbox should be blue . So I don’t think the video one is true to form but the radio looks the same . All the later MK2 "S" models should have the steering wheel with the flags cent...

Re: radio

I would guess that the radio would have been an optional extra at the time of the JPS. It wasn't till 1977 that they started to be fitted to higher spec models. It may have had the P21 as an option but more likely it was the silver buttoned Blaupunkt manufactured one that would have been fitted. I h...

Re: p/s steering boots

Brian It would probably pay you to work out a list of bits you need for the car then contact one of the guys over here. There's Martin at Caprigear email [email protected].co.uk or Tickover email [email protected].co.uk to name a couple. UK ebay might have them too but I wouldn't trust that the supplie...

Re: Nice eBay 2.8i

What's with the 280 decals :headscratch: I'm not sure if it's just the photos, but it doesn't even look the right colour to be a 280 lookalike. Andrew. It's Apollo Green which was used in the late seveties, was available on 3.0S but never on 2.8i. Lovely looking car though but attention to detail u...

Re: That late evening/ night drive

I did a little wave as we got on the A38 andy . Back to scones , they do need currents in as well also they should be warmed . Thoughts gents   Not keen on jam or cream, but I prefer Scones with current/sultanas and butter. Might get some at Tesco today :headscratch: Warm though... :?: ...

Re: Ball joint splitter

You don’t need a ball joint splitter just hit the part that the ball joint goes into :agree: Getting a scissor type splitter in there will be nigh on impossible unless you've taken the disc and backplate off. A couple of good, well aimed, taps with a large hammer on the eyelet the balljoint goes in...

Re: That late evening/ night drive

I prefer the scone/skon/scown or whatever to have sultanas or raisins in them. Don't care which way the cream and jam goes on though because I usually end up spilling one or both down my shirt anyway!

And is there anywhere I can get them from , diy store etc? Thanks! Hi Jordan You could get a used set from Caprigear Martin or i thin...

:applaud: I think we need the likes of Green Cross Code Man now, as many of todays kids have worse sense than ever before..... Re: Single Venturi auto carb leaking (+startup issues)

If you want to stay with the single venturi carb and not change the manifold etc then this will be the one http://www.webcon.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=697. You will have to fit a choke cable with this. I agree with 340 that the twin choke DGAV is a much better carb and will give you much more performance...

Re: Single Venturi auto carb leaking (+startup issues)

I'm afraid to say but at 200,000 + KM that little carb is going to be well worn out and may give the problems you say. You at least need to strip it down and put in a gasket set but check that the throttle butterfly spindle isn't worn where it goes through the casing of the carb. This is the main pl...

Re: Seat won't tilt

Probably the cables have gone Danny. If you can't get new ones, many people seem to bodge the break together with a screw type wiring block connecter. https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/products/7822876/?grossPrice=Y&cm_mmc=UK-PLA-DS3A-_-google-_-PLA_UK_EN_Connectors-_-Terminal_Blocks_And_Din_Rail_T...

Re: Nice eBay 2.8i

They don't offer warranties Andy, but they are much more bound by the sale of goods act than a private seller so will have to swallow for serious problems that occur in the first three months after selling a car. Say someone bought that Ghia then two days later the timing gear stripped - they would ...
