Re: Feeling better now

Cheers Rob. Went to my doctor's on Tuesday and he did a full MOT on me. I've never known a routine doctor's appointment that lasted 50 minutes. He did everything including a heart trace, Blood pressure etc and couldn't find anything wrong. Anyhow I was sent for a blood test and the next day the doc ...

Re: Correct colours

I'm pretty sure the drums were satin black - but only one thin coat applied!

New manifolds weren't painted, just a light grey colouring to the surface which went rusty after a month or two anyway.

Re: New Member - and message for Brooksy

I've got to say that Margaret has become a dear friend of mine since I joined the Surrey club just over 4 years ago and her car is an excellent example of loving and looking after a prized car we should all follow. The link below from Adrian Flux shows how well known Margaret and her car are but may...

- and look - an apostrophe in the plural form of a noun!!! I`m... speechless. :D As a chap who will perhaps 'appreciate' this one I've just been reading a letter to a client from Head of Operations at Teachers' Pensions that twice says: "If you've got any queries" Clearly a grasp of grammar was not...

Feeling better now

Hi Guys Just want to say thanks to all you who expressed concern following my wonky turn at Brooklands. I am feeling much better now. I went to the Doctor's yesterday and they did a quite thorough check up on me but couldn't find anything wrong, thank goodness. Just got to have a blood test now. Can...

Re: A707 LHC

Could be that it's not showing on DVLA as it was last taxed before 1997. I had this with my Green 2.0S and had to send them loads of photos before they would issue a V5C.

Congratulations on your purchase GJC and welcome to the forum.

Might it be an idea to start a new thread to cover your ownership of the car and showing us all what you do with it etc.

I have seen a few more of the episodes. It's just so painful to watch it's entertaining. Who needs horror movies - just watch this clown.

Re: Guess the part

Not that I've ever been on a bicycle in my life but to me the black contraption looks like some sort of DIY bike rack. On the right of it there looks to be two drilled holes that look about the same size/distance apart as the bolts for a towbar eye. I wondered if it bolted through towbar ball mounte...

Re: Nut, Bolt & Screw Sizes

By M5 you mean bolts rather than self tappers? They were definitely originally black pozi`s, as were the grill fixings, bezels etc. Not that it really matters. Yes, I'd describe them as black pan-headed M5 screws. Here's some on ebay ;- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-X-FORD-CAPRI-MK2-MK3-FRONT-GRILLE...

Re: Pinto starter motor

If it's just a lazy starter check the two long bolts that go through it are tight. I've seen several cases of lazy pinto starters caused by this. Re a new starter, Lucas ones are genarally just fine with there having been a few cases of duffy ones. At least buying from somewhere like ECP you get a w...

Re: Nut, Bolt & Screw Sizes

I 've yet to find a definitive list, so perhaps if you feel inclined to add details? Long thin plastic trims below front bumper to valance: No.10 x 1" Pozi pan head, black. Will add more as I take it apart... On mine the strip that goes across the upper front valance is held on by black M5's, the s...

Re: Steering rack parts

You could try taking it to CK engineering, they have all the V-blocks etc to straighten things. They once manage to straighten, line bore and balance a seized and bent 6 cylinder Mercedes 280 crankshaft for me so a tie rod should be within their capabilities.
