Re: I sold a car almost 2 years ago and its never been picked up.

If you have an address for the purchaser could you send him a formal letter, preferably by recorded delivery, telling him that if he doesn't collect the vehicle within a certain time then it will be sold for scrap. Send him the same letter by email just to make sure he gets the picture. Leaving it w...

Re: plugs

Having almost 250,000 miles on the clock says how good those engines are. I doubt many Fiestas have done that on an original engine.

Re: plugs

The little Fiat "FIRE" engines usually have bullit-proof bottom ends but are prone to head and head gasket failure. You need to have this in mind if the other things don't fix the blackening plug. Good little engines though, rev like hell and quite powerful for their size.

Re: plugs

The centre electrode on the blackened plug looks to be shorter and the gap wider than on the "normal" plug. I'd try a new set of properly gapped plugs before condemning anything else. If the new plugs don't do the trick then look into new leads, doing a compression test on the engine or looking for ...

Re: Factory Original But Not Right?

No, it's not right Paul. It looks to have had repair work in that area and would probably just involve turning the covers to the correct position and drilling new holes for the screws. To my eyes the interior looks like it's had a hard life for a 44,000 mile car what with the poor condition of the h...

Looks like a VW Beetle engine. That's the only flat four I know of that uses timing gears instead of a belt or chain.

I always thought a Pinto was a small Mexican bean which makes you fart! Seriously Peter, the USS Hornet I believe is now a National Museum in American due to its legendary WW2 actions. I've never seen it but I did go aboard the USS Constellation in Fremantle, Australia, when it was on its last tour ...

Re: Haynes Manual

For in-detail knowledge of how to do things I think the Ford factory manual is best. It is the technician's manual for advanced repairs such as gearbox and axle overhaul.

Video walkround of Brooklands show

I came across this quite good video walkround of the 50th show which just about shows every vehicle there. It's quite long and the presenter has a fixation on number plates and if the cars were Essex registered but otherwise I thought it to be quite a good representation of the show for those of you...

Re: Shocking news!

Going back to the original post I too coundn't care a toss if the woman wants to put her bare feet on the seats. However, there's no way I'd put bare feet or anything else bare on one of those seats having read an article years ago about what public transport seats in London (and probably the same e...

Re: Feeling better now

Cheers Rob. Went to my doctor's on Tuesday and he did a full MOT on me. I've never known a routine doctor's appointment that lasted 50 minutes. He did everything including a heart trace, Blood pressure etc and couldn't find anything wrong. Anyhow I was sent for a blood test and the next day the doc ...

Re: Correct colours

I'm pretty sure the drums were satin black - but only one thin coat applied!

New manifolds weren't painted, just a light grey colouring to the surface which went rusty after a month or two anyway.

Re: New Member - and message for Brooksy

I've got to say that Margaret has become a dear friend of mine since I joined the Surrey club just over 4 years ago and her car is an excellent example of loving and looking after a prized car we should all follow. The link below from Adrian Flux shows how well known Margaret and her car are but may...

- and look - an apostrophe in the plural form of a noun!!! I`m... speechless. :D As a chap who will perhaps 'appreciate' this one I've just been reading a letter to a client from Head of Operations at Teachers' Pensions that twice says: "If you've got any queries" Clearly a grasp of grammar was not...

Feeling better now

Hi Guys Just want to say thanks to all you who expressed concern following my wonky turn at Brooklands. I am feeling much better now. I went to the Doctor's yesterday and they did a quite thorough check up on me but couldn't find anything wrong, thank goodness. Just got to have a blood test now. Can...

Could be that it's not showing on DVLA as it was last taxed before 1997. I had this with my Green 2.0S and had to send them loads of photos before they would issue a V5C.

Congratulations on your purchase GJC and welcome to the forum.

Might it be an idea to start a new thread to cover your ownership of the car and showing us all what you do with it etc.
