Re: Prolblem with my Capri 2.0 pinto

I know you've fitted a fresh condenser, but I read a similar thread a while ago where a new condenser was faulty - many newer parts being of inferior quality - and failed when hot.

Re: The last Brooklands

Can I add my thanks to the organisers. I have been involved in organising events for a number of years and know just how much work is involved, and the expectations just increase (insurance, h&s etc before you even get into logistics!). So a big thanks to those who do it, for nothing, for everyone's...

Re: Finally my first ever Capri! 1987 2.8i Special

There are a number of specialist suppliers, Capri Gear for example, who can source most parts that you may not be able to get from factors etc.

I know the square root of naff all about 2.8s but worth checking for vac leaks, had a similar issue myself in the past and this was it.

Re: 'Christmas' meet

I got back home at around 8.30 despite living in North London! Shows you the delight of traffic... Wow, that's amazing! I only got home an hour later than you, and that was with a 30 minute stop on the way back. Andrew. Albeit I probably stopped for 30-40 minutes, for something to eat plus to get p...

Re: 'Christmas' meet

I'm up for something over the winter, definitely. I keep my Capri on tax throughout and whilst I'm aiming to avoid the worst of the weather, an odd trip in the rain shouldn't hurt... (Nick close your eyes!). December does tend to get quite busy both in that pubs/restaurants get booked up and people ...

Re: Feeling better now

Paul, so glad to hear that you're OK. Was concerned when John told us you had taken ill. I hope you had an enjoyable day otherwise, at least. As to the parking, it was a little chaotic! After a while I moved down to opposite Jason and as time went on so did others. Contrary to allegations I did not ...

Re: Breakdown Cover

I had a moment a while ago when I realised that I hadn't got all the 'modifications' listed. Although for me this is simply a K&N filter and a Sportex exhaust (and a 34ICH carb instead of a VV), I did a bit of reading up and discovered that even if wholly unrelated to the accident, it's possible to...

Re: Breakdown Cover

I'm preparing for this discussion this year round! Should hopefully be a little cheaper as I will be insuring it for fewer miles plus CCI membership (the cost of which was mostly repaid in discount on some parts I needed so any insurance bonus is a plus!). Footman James offer breakdown cover for £50...

Re: Concerning gearbox noise

A top up of oil sorted this! Perhaps understandable given it's a very long and steep hill!

Concerning gearbox noise

In the last week I've noticed a concerning loud whine in second gear. It only occurs under high load (for example going up a long hill). Going to check the oil level and top up if required, but is there anything else that can be checked?

Re: Cutting out when hot

Could be an air leak? Dropping idle, brakes in use. Spray carb cleaner around the carb and associated hoses and see if a leak is evident.

Footman James are OK with a garage not at your home, but they send a pro forma with details of its location etc.

Re: Good job I checked

Always worth a check over before an MoT, I'd be embarrassed if I got a failure from something silly like lights, wipers etc. I did go for a test and have a tail lamp blow between checking the night before, and 10am when the tester noticed it. Fortunately I had a spare and whipped it in there and then.

Re: Has anyone else noticed that Euro Car Parts...

They definitely aren't what I'd call good. There's a branch at the end of my road, which I've been in bout 4 or 5 times. Most recently, I needed a short length of rubber hose to connect to the PCV valve. They can't possibly do that wrong can they? Generic rubber hose, cut to length. Easy. Went into ...
