Re: Time

Advice has been given a couple of times, break to down in to small chunks. In my case I would literally break it down into 100s of tiny tasks. I used Microsoft ToDo app to list them all, then allocated Monday night as the one night to get out and get at least one job done. Any time on a weekend was ...

Re: Stubacca's Glacier Blue 1984 LS

Well it's been a while since I've updated this thread  Moved home last year, which got me in to a good place with the Capri, everything torqued up and brakes operational, was towed from the old place to here. With the current situation, I'm finding myself with a fair bit more time on my hands,...

Re: Headlight wiring block disassemble

if anyone finds this looking for the same answer, small thin flat screwdriver is needed to do the job. There is a tab on the connectors within the block, just needs pressing out the way in order for it to be removed out the back of the block.

Actually very straight forward.

Headlight wiring block disassemble

After a bit of advice, I'm replacing my original headlights with some H4 units. I've tracked down what wire does what with regards to sidelights, main etc. Ideally I want to get the pins out of the connecting block that secures onto the back of the lights, so I can swap around the wires and isolate ...

Wasn't the best solution back in the day to paint the underside in used engine oil then drive down a dusty track??

Re: exhaust system?

How difficult are they to fit mate? Tbh I might just pass the mot and then drill a couple of holes in the old exhaust lol To throw my two pennies in, the fit of the sportex is pretty poor, when I first fitted mine up, the natural position of the tail pipe was aiming at the ground about a foot away ...

There are two sizes I'm aware of, short one and a tall one. The picture you've shown looks like the taller (65mm) one.

Re: Stubacca's Glacier Blue 1984 LS

Small update, started on the rear drums, I've been having trouble with sticking handbrake parts, so made the decision to strip them fully, and whilst I'm at it replace the shoes and springs. http://mk3capri.co.uk/gallery/brakes/new-shows-and-springs.jpg Those new springs were a right sod to get on, ...

Re: Binding Rear Brakes

Thanks for your help guys, it was just what I needed, a bit of common sense. Never thought to try swapping the drums over!! Swapped them, still tight on the n/s, looking at the handbrake lever (the one with the self adjust attached) appears to be still sticking at the pivot with the handbrake ...

Binding Rear Brakes

This one has got me stumped, really hopeful that someone can help. The last item to fix on my MOT fix list is a rear n/s binding brake. When you turn the wheel by hand it feels free for about 180 degrees and dragging for the rest. I've dismantled both sides, replaced both the cylinders, checked the ...

Re: Stubacca's Glacier Blue 1984 LS

Thanks for the welcome chaps! :D Just a tiny update, managed to tick an issue off the MOT fail list tonight, the rear number plate lights. Had to (carefully) saw the old screws out, as they were rusted solid. The lights earth through the screws that hold the casing to the car, so a set of shinny scr...

Stubacca's Glacier Blue 1984 LS

Hi all, long time lurker, only recently registered. I’ve had my capri 8 years!! What started out as a fix up to the MOT failure sheet list, turned into replacing and renovating far more components than I originally planned. I'll start this thread and try to keep it updated, as I'm on the home straig...

Re: Capri Resto - Anyone On Here?

Hi all, that's my site, thanks for all your kind comments!! I've been a long time lurker on here, only recently registered! And yes I still have the car, progress did grind to a halt for a couple of years (life kinda got in the way), but it's full steam ahead now, hence a redesign on the site. I've ...
