Re: Wanted. Mk3 headlight bowls.

Trevor Steadman of Steadspeed restorations hand makes these parts. He will sort you out with new headlamp bowls if you need them. He is on Facebook under his name. Better to go to his Steadspeed Restorations Facebook page where you will see photos of his work and the parts he makes. If you scroll do...

I'm sure Trevor Steadman at Quoyloo Garage makes these by hand as replacement panels.

You can check out his work via his website or on Facebook.

Good luck.

Re: Cleaning Over-spray from Interior

I find the white 'Magic Sponge' works really well. The ones you buy 4 for a £1 in any supermarket. Dampen it off with warm water and some all purpose vehicle cleaner or even washing up liquid. It works great on fabric and plastic trim alike. Really good for removing oily stains as well. A word of wa...

Black Jim but a lot of people replace them with stainless versions.

Fascinating work Mark. All that effort means you will be able to enjoy it for many years to come.

Very very nice. Any pictures of the finished article. :applaud:

"In fact, I need to double check a few things on mine now......"

Hahaha Andrew. Reminds me of the time your dash switches were in the wrong order. I was out in the garage with the iPad checking mine. Glad I got you back

Thanks for the comments

Re: clay bars - halfords new offer update

Hi, I wouldn't call it a miserable job, but it is labour intensive. I must admit, I really do enjoy spending a few hours cleaning and polishing the car. I agree with the above sentiment Andrew. I actually find it quite therapeutic, out in the garage, bit of music on and when you feel the results, we...

Re: knowing what an original engine bay looks like

Think I've managed to work out how to post up a few more pics of my car. Not the best quality as only taken by my phone but you get the idea I hope. Will message Mark the under bonnet shots once I take them over the next day or so. Regards http://i1350.photobucket.com/albums/p767/G4242/image.jpg1_zp...

Re: knowing what an original engine bay looks like

Mmm, bizarre. It seems to have disappeared ! :o

I definitely did it as I recall Andrew passing comment but it was in his previous life as 'Peers Duup'.

Will post something up shortly but will need to look through how to post pics again. Not very IT literate I'm afraid.

Regards
Gordon

Re: knowing what an original engine bay looks like

Mark - you have a PM. I have a factory standard 280 (put photos in the members car section a while ago). It has a 1980's aftermarket alarm fitted. This was ordered and fitted to the car when new (I have the original bill of sale to prove). It's never been painted under the bonnet and is totally stan...

Re: clay bars - halfords new offer update

It really depends how dirty your car is. I've certainly used the same bar to do 2 maybe 3 vehicles without any problems, although they had been previously clayed. Could maybe have gone further but I relegate the old bars for claying my wheels. I keep my new and old clay bars in a plastic airtight co...

Re: clay bars - halfords new offer update

I am only a keen amatuer detailer but have used clay bars extensively. They decontaminate the paint really well and lift off the contaminants even when you think your car is spotless. Should leave the paint crystal clean and smoothe as glass with no roughness at all. Having tried many, the best I ha...

Mike, This is no time for flippant comments, haven't you heard that my switches are the wrong way round? This is a serious situation. :) All the best, Andrew.[/quote] Hilarious, my kind of humour. Sadly though I went out for a :drive: in the Capri today. The iPad came out to the car just to check an...

Re: Pressed Metal Number Plates

You could try small spacers between the back of the number plate and the front face of the bumper.

I've seen people use fibre or rubber washers. It takes the plate very slightly away from the front bumper but only by 5mm or so. Still looks good.

Only an idea for you to consider.

Well done.

As said before, excellent post with a good outcome. Have to say was not too sure about how the cable connected to the clutch fork. Your pictures say it all.
