Starter issue
Hi, I've been slowly getting on with odd bits and pieces on the car recently, one issue that was to infrequent to even call it intermittent was every now and then I'd turn the key to start the motor and there's be nothing. Dash lights on etc, but just nothing where the starter motor should kick in. ...

Stunning car. From the pictures it looks as though the finish on the paint is faultless.

Re: WANTED: photos of your wheels!
The pepperpots aren't going anywhere :) They'd actually started to grow on me a little by the time I got round to fitting the Revolutions. I love the standard look, however I really wanted something a bit larger and meaner. No doubt I'll change my mind again in the future. For me it was between thes...

Re: WANTED: photos of your wheels!
I like the deep dish 4 spokes too. Pretty sure that car you posted Neil has had them custom made to be wider at the rear. I spent hours looking at wheels before deciding on mine... http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb43/MattMeV8/Crapi/DSCF1603.jpg I went 15x8 ET0 in the end and not had any issues w...

Re: Type 9 Front Seal
Thanks. Hopefully it'll be that simple!
I have found that all my socket pieces must be extremely odd as everyone always says use a socket as a drift yet mine seem either too big or to small for the job.

Type 9 Front Seal
Been trying to get to the bottom of a few odd noises recently so ended up dropping the gearbox to change the clutch (Borg & Beck release bearing totally shot after less than 2k miles!). Found a fair amount of oil inside the bell housing, which on closer inspection appears to be coming from the f...

Colourful Car Meet
Just came across this rather colourful arrangement of Dodge Challengers... Be interesting to see something similar done with Capris.

Re: Overheating! Stopped on the roadside...
As said, if the gauge was not showing the high temperatures it must be the thermostat not opening correctly, so changing that is very important, along with 2 new caps (spring on the expansion tank, solid on the rad). 82 degrees 'stat is what you need. Whilst you have the thermostat out you can flush...

Re: Sunroof stuck in tilt position
I have tried pushing from the outside while someone tries from the inside. Unless someone got an another solution, i may just have to try to take the roof out. I was hoping I could avoid this :-( I'd try removing the interior panel and doing a visual check before removing. It may be a bracket/bolt ...

Re: Sunroof stuck in tilt position
Am I right in thinking you're describing your sunroof stuck open in the tilt position? I've not had this myself, but they are notorious for being a pain. Firstly do not force it. The winders are brittle, and you really don't want to snap anything. If it's in the up position you may be able to remove...

Painting Window Surrounds
Hi, The black metal window surrounds that go along the bottom of the front window, then around the rear quarter window, on mine appears to be bubbling under the paint. The guys who painted it seem to think it's something to do with the metal itself, and don't want to powder coat it either. I know th...

Re: Tt 280 query about hose/pipe
I've zero experience with the TTs, but if you can explain where the other 2(?) pipes go, and maybe provide pictures we can work out what it is.
Have you tried tracing the pipe back to see where it comes from?

Re: A sort of problem
This may be a little controversial, but I think if that's how you feel about it you should sell it. We own these types of cars because we enjoy driving them. That's what they're for, and if it just doesn't suit you any more sell it and get something you'll enjoy using. I see your point of trying to ...

Ah, that's one component I've not had any run-ins with yet. I assume they are not serviceable in any way?Bug wrote:If the idle doesn't change when it warms up then it can also be the Auxiliary Air Valve not closing off properly
Is there any method to test at all?
Thanks,

Re: Cold Start & Warm Idle
Well... The fuel pump noise was a little bit of a a story actually. Turns out whoever had 'sorted' the tank had used a rust converter that wasn't rated for fuel. The noise, as it turned out, was actually the rust converter clogging up the input of the fuel pump. Hence me not being able to find any r...

Cold Start & Warm Idle
Hi. I'll try and keep this brief because I know it's a commonly discussed topic. After putting the car back together and replacing most of the fuel system I have noticed a couple oddities in my first 1.5k miles. Firstly cold starts seem to be becoming more of a struggle. When I first picked up the c...
