Well I bet you had some fun, and that's what it's all about :)

Just watching an episode of A Touch Of Frost filmed in 1996, and a petrol station in the background selling at 54.9 per litre. Those were the days!!

That's some serious driving Andy, £25 of petrol a week!
Must have been my chequered driving gloves :drive:

I dread to think what I would have put in it if it had been a 2.8 or 3.0 Capri

Re: Capri hot start problem

Cheers Andy, that's a nice story, good memories! I bet your driving style has changed now, as we get older we have changing values and priorities such as the cost of petrol. I was putting £25 a week in the XR2 back then, that was quite a lot out of a weekly wage in 1986/7  Saying that I real...

Re: Capri hot start problem

Can you remember Andy, I know it's going back a while! But was there anything you could do to help with that, a workaround? Hi Paul, The memory is a funny thing! As I didn't have a bank account at the time, I remember convincing my Mum to write a cheque for the carb, the next memory is getting it b...

Re: Capri hot start problem

Back in mid 80s my Mk3 Escort was a nightmare to start when hot, so had that VV changed to a Nikki twin choke carb I found advertised in a car mag at the time.

Re my current set up, I have to admit it's strange getting used to a manual choke again after all this time :)

but to me look a little like Eric Idle and Michael Palin so I'm going with a Monty Python sketch.
I recognised his face but couldn't remember Eric Idles name, but I thought it looked very Monty Python.

Loved by many I could never get into it.

Re: Capri hot start problem

:welcome:

I have replaced the VV with a Weber carb and manual choke on my Sierra 1.6 Pinto.

That could be an option as it's great on fuel too

:goodluck: and also sorry for your loss!

Re: Who Remembers?

Great stuff Andy, would never be allowed now. Channel 7 on freeview are showing the original Kenny Everett TV show, and in each one there is a Hot Gossip routine. He calls it the naughty bit, probably was back then, quite lame now but strangely it wouldn't be allowed. Go figure! 51 years ago it doe...

Very talented to paint like that! I believe human portraits are particularly difficult.

I can't draw at all but the Mrs is very good, especially painting and drawing pets/animals portraits.

Sad news indeed Paul! If only our 'Police' took muggings, burglaries, stabbings as seriously as speeding then I feel sure that this shit hole of a country would be a much nicer place to live in. I think I'll definitely have a 'Falling Down moment' if this crap continues :cigar: :agree: As do 99.9% of others on these mat...

Re: 1980 Ford Capri L 1.6

I'd agree that binning the vv is the best thing you can do for that engine - a Weber 32/36 is an improvement but will likely coat you more in fuel (it's hard not to put your foot down more!) Compared to a 34ICH which isnt a bad little carb if you aren't worried about power Replaced the VV on the Si...
