Re: I must be mad

First proper drive above ^^^^^^ in a car I have had nearly 6 years. Needless to say it was far worse than it first appeared.

Holy thread revival! After 6 years of graft with hundreds of hours of welding and mechanical work this 1.6L passed its MoT yesterday with no advisories. It’s been a long haul but worth it!

WTD - bumper corner brackets

Has anyone got a set of bumper to plastic corner brackets? Would be interested in pairs or odd ones. Condition not too important as happy to strip and paint.
Thanks

Re: Rear seat latch problem

Had another go and got it sorted this morning by taking the foam pads off - thanks for the tip! The passenger side was easy but the drivers side put up more of a fight.

Re: Rear seat latch problem

Thanks, I tried adjusting them as described except I left the seat backs in place. I will try removing them and see if that helps.

Rear seat latch problem

Really stupid one this, I have replaced the rear seats on my project and I cannot get them to engage with the latch mechanism. They are just about aligned from looking at them and the latches work perfectly if triggered with a screwdriver. It’s as if the seat backs are either misaligned or something...

Re: Engine flush

Flushing oil might be ok if it's used every time but in an unknown or more aged engine it will probably do more harm than good. When I buy any car where the oil is a bit grubby I use cheap oil for a few miles of gentle running then drain and refill with good oil. I also change the oil to cheap oil b...

Re: worrying time for classics re MOT

I am not expecting this to be popular, but at a time of cuts to the disabled, hospitals barely functioning due to low funds etc etc etc am I am the only one who thinks that the tax exemption for classic cars is not the best way to go about things? After all, if I can afford the car and choose it as ...

Re: accuspark ingition

I have run accusspark on a series, b series, pintos and rover v8s. Never had an issue once setup. One a series needed a different rotor arm with a spacer on but that was all. In total I have done over 15000 miles on them without any issues at all. The first one I fitted is still going strong after f...
