Re: My Capri

hello Paul, hope your keeping well. i remember a day when your car nearly got wet and you sat in it under a bridge, remember that. In fact the photo below may well have been that day, back in 1987. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49234352331_5fdcbbb345_c.jpg [/url] fullsizeoutput_bf0 by andrew h...

Re: New door and boot rubbers

Haha when I spoke to east Kent about it they told me the rubber is not there design mould and to change the hole size would cost far to much in tooling so we found our own way around it, get a £1 drill bit. The thing would twist your door

Re: New door and boot rubbers

I had the same problem, in the fold of the rubbers are small holes that are there to let the air out when compressed, the problem is the air cannot get out quick enough, if you make the holes a little bigger with a drill the air will escape quicker and they will shut better, then over time it will g...

Re: Red 3.0 s or Ghia on eBay

it has a Ghia dash as it has the grab handle, its clearly been reshelled at some stage a long time ago a 78/79 shell would have had the chassis number on the drivers side inner wing top, i would say its 81 onwards maybe a late 2l S shell or maybe laser, doors don't match and no opening rear quarters...

Re: Brake Servo O-Ring

I had a real problem getting one of these, they are like rocking horse poo, and as it happens I have a rocking horse that delivers. They need to be a very good fit to create a good seal other wise you just get vacuum hiss which effect the engine running and the brakes!. I would be very surprised if ...

Re: need new chassis data plate? help!!

Early mk3’s have the same plates as late mk2’s, both assembled in Germany I think they may change around 81. The one in the image looks correct for an early mk3, I got one for mine so I know you can get them, I may have got it from classic plates in Pinner

Re: Ignition switch failed?

your figures do seem to be correct, the coil supply voltage should be less when the engine is running as thats when the ballast resistor is in circuit, so thats clearly not the problem. I still would check the battery voltage when running just to put a tick in that box. Just another little idea, i s...

Re: Ignition switch failed?

Just read the last post and the battery voltage when running is incorrect, it should be higher than the non running voltage indicating an issue with the alternator. Some of your symptoms do indicate a voltage issue, it is possible that you have a temperamental alternator so be good to rule it out. T...
