Re: wide tyres for 13" wheels
Well yeah , but the sizes asked about by the OP are not run of the mill sizes and would most likely be fitted to modified vehicles from the 70's or 80's that originally had 165 - 185 wide tires . I think now most people see the benefits of larger diameter rims ( bigger brakes ) and thusly that where...

Yeah , just short bits , maybe 2" long at either end of the main and return fuel line . I think my main fuel hose is plastic.

R9 fuel line ? Ah yes but is it furry critter proof. Can you get R9 spec fuel hose with braided stainless outer?...........that would fix the little cnuts . Dont tip no more petrol in tho aye , not till you fix the leak 😉. At least you didnt use a wet n dry vacuum cleaner to suck fuel out of the car...

For example, it states on page 101 that the plastic side trims inside the boot "were always black".... Perhaps grey is the new black? Andrew. Don't tell that to my brown ones in the GL!! 😂 mine are brown ....well were till I painted them :D and the sun does fade the clock hands as i...

Re: Granada 2.8i calipers on a capri
I think these conversions were popular because thats what was easily available way back when Capris were new. Now there are several kits available to many different spec's (and budgets ) .......that come with all brackets ,bolts and spacers needed.......just bolt it on . Save yourself some agro(mayb...

Re: Valvoline VR1 is the dogs bollocks

The higher the pressure the more strain on the oil pump drive,.........and some are only just up to the task in stock form . Just where in the oil system the gauge is can affect how it does its job.

Can see how a relatively hefty steel cam gear could cause extra bearing wear compared to a lighter ally one.........now that I think about it

Re: Steel timing gear noise
Any way you could lap them in a bit ? Im wondering just how consistent the distance between camshaft and crankshaft centrelines is . Bit of difference here must effect how the gear sets sound. Just looking at the cam gear , specially if it's ally ,Im thinkin a bit of sound deadening would go some wa...

Re: You learn something new every day
I bought a new timing light a while ago ( got an optilux ), just a basic xenon bulb job . I saw there are ones you can dial up how much advance you want 🤔, so you can set the light to 8deg and look for tdc on the pulley .........instead of just lookin for 8deg on the pulley,...........beats the shit...

Re: MoT'd my mum's 207CC the other day...
I also notice that modern cars in general, and the 207CC in particular, has a vast monolith of plastic forward of the dash, taking up so much room that the rear seats are totally useless as seats. What's in there? Why does it have to take up such a lot of room? I also noticed that. In some modern c...
Re: Brakes
:agree: But they aint that hard to sort . Basically pull it to bits ( see you tube tutorials )check cylinder bore , clean the bits , fit new seals where the old ones were and put it back together . Checking the cylinder bore is a really good look at it ,looking for pitting /corrosion and or scoring .
