Re: capri ghia wheel tyre sizes

Years ago I had a set of 7" rims welded onto my centres so I could run 205s or 215s on my mk2 Escort . Its surprising just how different the car felt on lower profile wider tires .

Re: Looking for information on MK1 seat restoration.

A mate of mine just got a thin sheet of aluminium and replaced the wires with that. I just used some scrap, slightly curved slats of pine from an old setee, cut it to size and slid it in, works great! What does that type of replacement do to the feel of the seat? Did you notice any difference befor...

Re: Wandering Timing Magical Mystery!

End float on th aux shaft ? If it was able to move in and out it would alter spark timing . Im assuming cam timing is constant. 6 deg aint much ....enough to cause starting issues , specially if there is a bit more compression than usual . Its just about gotta be somewhere around the aux shaft or di...

Re: Automatic transmission issue

do you think that the sudden stops could cause something to be "floating " back and forth inside the box ......like maybe a circlip has been dislodged and a rotating bit is loose on a shaft ? Not that that helps , just been thinkin about it . Ironic that Im changing my crapi to auto and yo...

Re: Automatic transmission issue

The reason you have to have hot fluid before testing is coz when the fluid is hot it drains back into the pan quicker , so when idling the fluid is being pumped about the trans , if it was cold the level in the pan would be lower as less fluid has drained back . Some trans have a hot and cold set of...

I usually fit longer heavy duty cords too . My Dad just gave me a 150mm Hitachi grinder . WTF ? the guys a lawyer ,why doe...

Re: Angle Grinders £10

I have had my Ryobi 100mm grinders , one for 35 years from new the other 3 are made up of dead ones I bought on line for nix , just fitted new bearings and seals . But a grinder for 10 quid would be hard to pass up .

Re: Automatic transmission issue

Has it been well serviced ? Sounds like the valve body is sticking . Im picking as you grive forward it hits second gear , maybe as you lift off , and when the car stops the thing takes its time dropping back into 1st , if your lucky it may be a sticking governer . Try googling C3 trans issues .

Re: I'm dreaming of a reich Christmas...

Quite an emotive pic ,on one hand we have a fictitious character invented and carried over for generations to bring joy and happiness to children ( and thus adults ) ,and on the other we have a real person who quite happily marched them into gas chambers .
