Re: Whining sort of noise....?

Yeah , I could have had a bit of fun with this one ....whining poms an all that 😁 Jasons mother in law in the back seat.....but I wont Rear wheel bearings usually have a bit of "rumble " being as they are a relativly low speed bearing. The diffs on these cars have a bit of a habit of loose...

Re: Electric fuel pump

Uh ok , I would have thought that the surface area of the fuel in the float bowl would have been much² bigger than the surface area of the fuel in the reserve wells ( area where the jets and air correctors live )......but hey. Im at a sort of cross roads re my Capri build. I have a choice of either ...

I wonder if one was to stuff a bit of air filter foam into that vent hole would it slow down the rate of evaporation 🤔?

Re: Electric fuel pump

Yeah Wayne , Im thinkin pbar might be right in that if your pump is a bit suss and not priming well. I pulled one apart and it had steel reed valves and seats .....which is all well and good if the surfaces are in good cond ( these were but the pump was leaking oil ). And scp440 has a good point too...

Re: CB Radios in your Capri? (2022)

Yes ,and the denon stereo .
I have a marine vhf/uhf radio in my boat and Im pretty sure some of the boat to boat ( simplex ) channels are the same as the CB frequencies.
Mostly only truckies and boaties are the only one using these channels nowdays ......used to be popular here tho .

Re: CB Radios in your Capri? (2022)

You should google "cellular phone" 😁 Wadda ya mean "still mounted "I dont know anyone who ever defaced their classic Capri with one.....thats the reason you cant find any photo's of CB radios in Capris . Capri owners ( well most of them anyway ) are to cool for that😁😆. Do you hav...

Re: Big hesitation.

Does your carb have the anti stall diagram system fitted ......looks a bit like the accelerator pump.......pretty sure it feeds into the same y nozzles. The thing is a spring loaded diaphragm that is held back by manifold vacuum , spring and manifold vac on one side and fuel on the other. When engin...

Saves alot of time waiting for it to occur naturally I suppose  Ah , I dunno . One thing I cant get over is the amount of rust to be seen under cars on UK car programs ......cars that sint that old . Shortest fishin trip ever

Got the boat out of the shed after winter and did the whole prep thing , changed all oils ( two motors ) greased prop shafts , the whole 9 yards .Took me most of a day. Backed boat off trailer at the ramp at Riverton estuary ( bit of sideways current ) and found that the steering was seized solid......

Yeah , he was a bit of a "charicter" . He was a ganger on the NZ rail .....wirey little bugger ,hard worker . Dad tells me that after the ww2 he had a hitler moustache ....and he did look a lot like him. Family suffered for it as most found it highly offensive ( no shit!). I remember as a ...

Re: Electric fuel pump

Yah , ok , I can see the fuel evaporating ( as mentioned above ) out of the float bowl ....and that does take a bit of cranking to fill up. Now that it has been mentioned I do recall tipping fuel into the carb bowl breather ....where you can see the air correctors.........but that was after sitting ...

Re: Electric fuel pump

Whilst the fuel in the line MAY drain back to the tank ......the valves in a mechanical pump should stop this but I cant see how it could drain the float bowl . However I did use a facet fuel pump , cant remember the model , but it was about 4psi and I run it off the spare power wire up by the headl...

Re: Brake caliper.

They are a piece of cake to do .....probly the hardest part will be undoing the mounting bolts 😀. Very basically you use compressed air to push the pistons out (then be surprised at just how much crap is in there ), clean things up and refit pistons with new seals (one square section O ring and a du...

Yep , toast and coal range smoke always remind me of my Grannies house. I never was much for the smellies , bottle of old spice last me about 10 years ( we used to call it "the maori shower" ...,probly get locked up for that now 😁). That bottle of old spice must just about be collectable. ...

Re: Timing Question - too much advance?

Uh ,ok🙂 , I can see why you are eyeing the dizzy/timing with some suspicion🤔 , everything else I would look at has been done . Tight exhaust valve clearance can give issues but in my experience this show up as a lousy idle with little reaction to fiddling with the idle mix screw. Is the accuspark di...

Re: Timing Question - too much advance?

I dunno what the full advance timing is ....but a total of 8deg plus your 30 ish doesnt sound toooooo bad . The popping and banging suggests an intermittent fault rather than a constant fault like off timing . I would check other stuff .......like plug leads , plugs dizzy cap and rotor . My crapi id...
