Re: Who Remembers?
Well I got two of them Fray Bentos pies and I thought they were borderline the worst pie Id ever had ..... the chicken one was all slop , not one bit of recognisable meat , cant remember what the other one was but it was just as bad . There is an on line place here ( Union Jack's ) that supplies ex ...

Re: Bigger main jets ??
because we have had some problems with it running lean before on the idle circuit and was actually the original reason it wasn't running when we first bought the car because the carb was jetted wrong and were to small  anything else ? idle jets should be 50 in both venturis , power jet should...

Re: Bigger main jets ??
30 deg advance sounds about right . The distributor will reach full advance well before red line so the fact that it advances well to 30deg @ 3000rpm and then stays there suggests that is its full advance , and that I would expect to happen around peak torque ..... somewhere between 3 &4 grand ,...

Re: Bigger main jets ??
I have a stock Bosch dizzy with an Crane/Allison optical ignition . One thing often overlooked is the advance weight springs , cheap as and they do loose some boing over time. A 1mm oversize will give you a wee lift in comp ratio, and the exhaust .......I really dont see that you need to modify a di...

Re: Bigger main jets ??
That's a very good point actually the distributor we do have is an accuspark one without a vacuum advance we bought a vacuum advance but it was advancing to far and causing pinking under normal driving conditions and causing it to cut out so we plugged the advance hose and left it with a non advanc...

Re: Bigger main jets ??
+ 1 for what Danny said :agree: .... but :xd: Have you checked that the accelerator pump ( we are talking weber 32/36 dgav ? ) is working . Some carbs have a squirter for both barrels , some only on the primary , AND just coz its looks to have two squirters doesnt mean it does , some of the secondar...

Re: 2.8 Inserts
I have "normal " struts on my car , with 2" lowered springs ( 145lb ) and I have short inserts ( Gaz ) because I learnt that lesson with my Escort , standard length inserts wouldnt retain the springs on full extension. I dunno about Bilstiens , you might get away with it but even if y...

Re: Jobs on a car that were easier than expected and jobs that were harder than expected
Removing a motor is usually not as hard as one would think . I had major problems with the ring gear on my mk1 Escort . The ring gear kept "walking " off the flywheel , by the time I had sussed it I could drive in to the shed and 20mins later the engine and gearbox was on the floor . I had...

Ok , this might not work on your her indoors but when faced with such challenges I tend to go to the sorts of places one might find old oak furniture that can be converted . Old drinks cabernets and radiograms ( for example ) make great looking and functional storage 909.jpg This would hold a fair b...
